Conroe’s Own Kyle Drabek Joins Elite in Texas Sports Hall of Fame

Conroe, TX – Kyle Drabek, the prodigious baseball talent who left an indelible mark on Conroe High School, is officially slated for induction into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame as a member of its distinguished 2024 class. The former Tiger ace will be honored during the induction ceremony scheduled for Saturday, October 26th, at the Waco Convention Center.

Drabek’s high school career from 2003 to 2006 was nothing short of legendary. On the mound for Conroe High, he compiled an astonishing 33-1 win-loss record with a minuscule 0.86 earned run average. During his tenure, he racked up an incredible 412 strikeouts and threw 12 no-hitters, cementing his status as one of the state’s most dominant high school pitchers. His exceptional performance earned him the prestigious Mr. Baseball Texas award in 2006.

Following his standout high school career, Drabek was a highly touted prospect, selected 18th overall by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 2006 Major League Baseball Draft. He later went on to pitch professionally for the Toronto Blue Jays. Kyle is also widely recognized as the son of former MLB pitcher Doug Drabek, extending a rich baseball legacy.

He joins a remarkable 2024 induction class that includes other renowned figures such as Adrian Beltre, Derrick Johnson, Shawn Johnson East, Robert Herrin, Cat Osterman, Josh Pate, and Brad Riepe. His inclusion among such esteemed company is a testament to his impactful career, particularly his foundational years and achievements right here in Conroe.
