**Conroe ISD Achieves Texas’ Highest School Board Honor**

Conroe, TX – The Conroe Independent School District (CISD) Board of Trustees has been awarded the “Lone Star Governance designation for high performance” by the Texas Education Agency (TEA), effective Thursday, July 13, 2023. This prestigious recognition marks the highest rating a school board in Texas can receive from the state agency.

The designation signifies that Conroe ISD’s Board has not only achieved an exemplary rating on its most recent annual financial accountability report but has also demonstrated an unwavering commitment to prioritizing students and rigorously focusing on improving student outcomes. Conroe ISD now stands as one of only 20 school districts across the entire state to hold this elite recognition, underscoring its leadership in effective governance.

TEA Commissioner Mike Morath presented the award virtually via Zoom, acknowledging the district’s sustained dedication to best practices in governance.

Conroe ISD’s journey toward this top-tier designation began in 2017 when its Board of Trustees first partnered with the TEA’s Lone Star Governance team. Since then, Board members have engaged in extensive, ongoing training provided by the TEA, diligently working to develop targeted goals specifically aimed at enhancing student performance across all district campuses. This multi-year effort has involved regular reviews of data and progress to ensure consistent movement toward those critical targets, culminating in this esteemed recognition.

Dr. Curtis Null, Superintendent of Conroe ISD, expressed profound pride in the achievement. “This award truly validates the incredible work and unwavering dedication of our Board of Trustees,” Dr. Null stated. “Their consistent focus on student success, paired with their commitment to fiscal responsibility and transparent leadership, sets a benchmark for districts across the state.”
