Invention Vineyards’ Resealable Sparkling Wine Can

**Montgomery Couple Pioneers Resealable Sparkling Wine Can, Poised for National Launch**

MONTGOMERY, Texas – Out on the burgeoning wine trail near Lake Conroe, Jeff and Heather Heath are uncorking more than just bottles at their Invention Vineyards. The entrepreneurial duo is making waves in the beverage world with a patented, single-serving, resealable sparkling wine can, a clever solution to a long-standing bubbly dilemma, and they are aiming for a much broader public release this year.

Heather Heath first envisioned this innovation in 1997 while working at a vineyard in California’s Russian River Valley. Frustrated by the pervasive waste of unfinished bottles of sparkling wine, she pondered a way to preserve the fizz and offer a more convenient option. The very next year, in 1998, her husband Jeff, a natural problem-solver, brought her concept to life. In their garage, using nothing more complex than a drill press, he crafted the initial prototype for what would become their signature product: a single-serving, resealable sparkling wine can.

“It was about solving a universal problem,” Heather explains. “Who hasn’t opened a bottle of bubbly for just one glass, only to have the rest go flat? We wanted to create an experience that was both luxurious and incredibly convenient.”

This ingenious concept, designed to minimize fizz loss and allow consumers to reseal their drink for later enjoyment, quickly gained traction. The Heaths filed their first patent application in 2000, and the patent was officially granted in 2003.

A pivotal moment came in 2004 when the Heaths made the strategic move from California to Montgomery, Texas. Two years later, in 2006, they established Invention Vineyards, initially as a dedicated research facility to perfect their viticulture and winemaking techniques in the Texas climate. Their commitment bore fruit in 2008 with the first commercial grape harvest specifically for their groundbreaking “V inventor” sparkling wine.

The vision continued to grow, culminating in the construction of their impressive 12,000-square-foot winery building. Groundbreaking occurred in 2016, and the state-of-the-art facility officially opened its doors in 2017. While the Heaths have been test-marketing their unique canned sparkling wine for several years, perfecting the product and their market strategy, they are now gearing up for a significant expansion in distribution.

Currently, Invention Vineyards boasts 6.5 acres of thriving vines, cultivating varietals specifically suited for the region, including Blanc du Bois and Black Spanish grapes. The Heaths have ambitious plans to expand their vineyard to another 15 to 20 acres, introducing additional varietals to their portfolio. They are presently producing about 5,000 cases of wine annually, with a clear roadmap to scale up significantly to between 20,000 and 30,000 cases in the coming years.

The “V inventor” wine is currently available for purchase directly at their Montgomery winery, located just a short drive from Lake Conroe. The Heaths are actively working to expand its distribution, with sights set on regional and eventually national availability. Future plans for their Montgomery facility also include adding a dedicated tasting room, enhancing the visitor experience and offering a deeper dive into their innovative approach to winemaking.

“We saw the potential in Texas, not just for growing grapes but for innovation in the wine industry,” Jeff Heath adds. “Our resealable can is a game-changer for sparkling wine, offering unprecedented flexibility for picnics, boating on Lake Conroe, or just a quiet evening at home.”

The Heaths’ invention enters a booming market for canned wines, which have seen exponential growth in recent years due to their convenience and sustainability. However, the resealable feature of the V inventor can sets it apart, addressing the primary drawback of traditional sparkling wine packaging. It positions Invention Vineyards as a leader in merging modern consumer demands with traditional winemaking quality.

As Montgomery County continues its rapid growth, entrepreneurial ventures like Invention Vineyards play a crucial role in shaping its economic landscape, attracting tourism, and putting the region on the map for innovation. Locals and visitors alike are encouraged to visit the winery and experience the future of sparkling wine.
