Conroe Noon Lions December Community Service

**Conroe Noon Lions Club Delivers “December Rush” of Goodwill Across Montgomery County**

**CONROE, TX** – Embracing their timeless motto, “We Serve,” the Conroe Noon Lion’s Club (CNLC) concluded 2023 with an extraordinary “December Rush” of community service, impacting numerous lives across Montgomery County. From ensuring children had gifts under the tree to delivering essential meals to homebound seniors, the club’s dedication shone brightly throughout the holiday season.

The flurry of good deeds began early on **Saturday, December 2nd**, with a heartwarming Christmas shopping spree for twenty children from the Montgomery County Women’s Center. Each child received a $100 gift card, transforming the Conroe Target into a festive wonderland. CNLC members, including event chair Karen Seger, and staff from the Women’s Center, provided breakfast and shopping assistance, helping the children select cherished gifts. President Lisa Roberts and a special guest, Santa Claus himself, were on hand to add to the morning’s magic.

“Seeing the pure joy on these children’s faces as they picked out their own gifts is what the holidays are all about,” expressed President Roberts. “It’s a privilege to partner with the Montgomery County Women’s Center, which provides vital support to vulnerable families in our community, and to help bring a little extra cheer during a challenging time.” The Montgomery County Women’s Center offers shelter, counseling, and advocacy services for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.

A week later, on **Saturday, December 9th**, the CNLC joined the festive spirit of the annual Conroe Christmas Parade in Downtown Conroe. Their float, playfully themed “Home for the Holidays,” featured a giant gift box and President Roberts riding alongside her grandson. Club members enthusiastically distributed candy, collected from previous events, to cheering crowds lining the parade route, adding to the community’s holiday celebration.

Mid-month, on **Saturday, December 16th**, the club turned its focus to ensuring no child in Montgomery County went without a gift. Hundreds of toys, meticulously collected over several months through various drives, were distributed to children in need from the CNLC’s storage unit at Security Storage in Conroe. Toy Drive Chairs Karen Seger and Sara Aymond, along with President Roberts and a dedicated team of volunteers, tirelessly worked to match gifts with grateful families.

“The generosity of our community in donating toys was incredible,” said Sara Aymond. “It’s humbling to be able to help so many children experience the joy of opening a present on Christmas morning, turning what might have been a sparse holiday into a memorable one.”

Beyond these signature December events, the Conroe Noon Lion’s Club also maintained its vital ongoing commitments. Their cherished Meals on Wheels program continued throughout the month, with volunteers coordinated by Past President Steve Williams delivering nutritious meals and warm companionship to dozens of homebound seniors across the area. This consistent service provides not just food, but a crucial check-in for many isolated individuals.

Similarly, their monthly vision screening project, led by Past President Jason Miller, provided crucial screenings for children at various Montgomery County schools. This proactive initiative identifies children needing further attention and provides necessary glasses, ensuring that poor vision doesn’t hinder a child’s ability to learn and thrive in school.

The exceptionally busy month wrapped up with a well-deserved Holiday Social for members at the Conroe Yacht Club, allowing them to celebrate their collective successes and unwavering dedication before the new year.

The Conroe Noon Lion’s Club is part of Lions Clubs International, the world’s largest service club organization, with a global mission to empower volunteers to serve their communities, meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace, and promote international understanding through Lions clubs. Locally, their impact is deeply felt.

For those interested in learning more about their extensive community work, volunteering, or becoming a member, the Conroe Noon Lion’s Club typically meets every Wednesday at noon at the Lone Star Convention & Expo Center.
