United Way Montgomery County Opens New Hub

**United Way of Montgomery County Unveils New Community Connections Center, Bolstering Disaster Response and Local Services**

CONROE, TX – The United Way of Montgomery County is set to significantly enhance its community impact and disaster response capabilities with the grand opening of its brand-new United Way Center for Community Connections this Wednesday, August 23rd. A ribbon-cutting ceremony and grand opening event are scheduled from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the new facility, located at 12239 FM 1484 in Conroe.

This state-of-the-art, dedicated facility marks a pivotal moment for the organization, transitioning from years of operating out of disparate smaller spaces and storage units to a centralized hub designed for efficiency and expanded service delivery. The move is a direct response to logistical challenges faced during large-scale efforts, most notably highlighted by the extensive recovery operations following Hurricane Harvey.

“For years, we’ve made do with fragmented spaces, which made coordinating large-scale efforts, especially during disasters, a real logistical challenge,” explained Julie Martineau, United Way’s President and CEO. “This new center will consolidate our operations, providing a robust infrastructure that ensures we can recover faster and stronger when the next crisis hits.”

The $1.5 million property, funded through a successful capital campaign, is more than just new office space. It features a dedicated warehouse for critical donated goods such as cleaning supplies and hygiene products, essential for immediate disaster relief. The center also includes specialized training spaces for volunteers and partner agencies, fostering better coordination and preparedness across the county. It will serve as the permanent home for United Way’s “Restore Montgomery County” disaster recovery program and is envisioned as a true resource hub for the entire community.

Looking ahead, the new facility also provides the capacity for United Way to expand vital community services, including future plans to grow programs like Meals on Wheels, further extending their reach and impact on vulnerable populations.

The realization of the United Way Center for Community Connections was made possible through widespread community support. Woodforest National Bank emerged as a major donor, playing a crucial role in the capital campaign’s success. Other key partners include Chews Solutions, which handled the facility’s new signage, and Lone Star College-Montgomery, which not only assisted with essential IT infrastructure but also committed to providing valuable opportunities for student support, fostering a pipeline of community-minded individuals.

The opening of this center is poised to be a significant development for the Conroe community and Montgomery County as a whole, promising to improve the coordination and effectiveness of aid efforts and ensure the region is better prepared for future challenges. The public and media are invited to attend the grand opening event on Wednesday to celebrate this milestone.
