**Conroe Garden Club Welcomes New Leadership, Cultivates Plans for 2026 “Cultivating Community” Garden Tour**

The Conroe Garden Club recently concluded its vibrant 2023-2024 season, celebrating a year of horticultural passion and community engagement while setting its sights on an exciting future, including a major biennial fundraiser scheduled for March 2026. Members gathered on May 15, 2024, at the scenic River Plantation Country Club to mark the season’s close and formally install their new leadership team for the upcoming 2024-2026 term.

During the festive event, outgoing President Pam Brown officiated the installation ceremony, passing the gavel to the club’s new leadership. Marty Deardorff stepped into the role of President, expressing enthusiasm for the term ahead. She is joined by Susan Taylor as Vice President, Jean Harrison as Treasurer, and Betty Jean (B.J.) Hall as Secretary.

“I’m incredibly proud of what we accomplished during my term, thanks to the dedication of our members,” stated outgoing President Pam Brown. “Our club’s commitment to promoting gardening and community service is truly inspiring, and I have no doubt Marty and the new team will lead the Conroe Garden Club to even greater achievements.”

Incoming President Marty Deardorff shared her vision for the club’s future. “It’s an honor to step into this role, and I’m excited to work alongside Susan, Jean, and B.J. to continue our mission,” Deardorff said. “The Conroe Garden Club has a rich history, established in 1968, and we remain dedicated to fostering a love for gardening, encouraging floral design, and championing civic and environmental responsibility throughout our community. Our upcoming Garden Tour will be a cornerstone of these efforts.”

A significant point of discussion and planning for the new leadership and the entire club is the much-anticipated 2026 Conroe Garden Tour. This biennial event serves as the primary fundraiser for the club’s extensive educational initiatives and various community projects, including scholarships for horticulture students and local beautification efforts.

Scheduled for Saturday, March 29, 2026, the tour will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will carry the inspiring theme of “Cultivating Community.” Organizers anticipate showcasing between five and seven distinctive and breathtaking gardens throughout the Conroe area. Potential sites being considered range from a historic 1912 home on Avenue A, offering a glimpse into Conroe’s past, to more contemporary residences nestled within picturesque developments like Teaswood, highlighting the region’s diverse architectural and horticultural landscape.

“The ‘Cultivating Community’ theme perfectly encapsulates our vision for this event,” Deardorff explained. “We want the tour to not only highlight the beauty of local gardens but also to inspire residents to connect with nature and with each other through a shared passion for gardening and community spirit.” Tickets for the tour are expected to be priced at $25, with details on purchase locations to be announced closer to the event.

Beyond the biennial garden tour, the Conroe Garden Club remains actively engaged in the community through various activities. Monthly meetings often feature expert speakers on topics ranging from native plant species and water conservation to innovative floral design techniques. The club also participates in hands-on projects, such as maintaining sections of public gardens, contributing to local clean-up drives, and providing educational outreach to local schools, reinforcing their commitment to environmental stewardship.

The Conroe Garden Club welcomes new members who share their passion for gardening and community service. Whether a seasoned horticulturist or a budding enthusiast, there’s a place for everyone.
