LSC ALL Names New Director, Boosts Senior Programs

**Lone Star College’s Academy for Lifelong Learning Kicks Off 2026 with New Director and Expanded Programs for Seniors**

NORTH HOUSTON – The new year is bringing fresh energy and expanded opportunities to Lone Star College’s Academy for Lifelong Learning (ALL), a popular program dedicated to fostering continued education and community engagement for adults aged 50 and older. Effective January 2, 2026, Kim Windham has officially stepped into her new role as director, poised to significantly enhance ALL’s offerings across the North Houston area.

Windham brings a wealth of experience to the position, having served as a coordinator at the LSC-Creekside Center and previously working with the LSC-Tomball ALL program. Her deep understanding of the college system and the needs of active senior learners positions her perfectly to lead the academy into a vibrant new chapter.

Her primary goal is ambitious: to ramp up programming across all seven Lone Star College campuses, introducing a diverse array of unique and engaging classes specifically tailored for seniors. Windham emphasizes her commitment to fostering a strong sense of community, aiming to make ALL a truly welcoming and enjoyable environment for every member.

“I am incredibly excited to step into this role and build upon the strong foundation of the Academy for Lifelong Learning,” Windham stated. “My vision is to create an even more vibrant and inclusive community, offering enriching experiences that not only educate but also entertain and connect our members. We want ALL to be a place where active adults can pursue new passions, rekindle old interests, and forge lasting friendships.”

The Academy for Lifelong Learning caters to active adults aged 50 and up, providing a diverse range of non-credit courses, insightful seminars, and enriching cultural and recreational trips. These programs are designed to promote mental stimulation, physical well-being, and social interaction, combating isolation and encouraging continued personal growth and discovery.

This year’s curriculum promises several exciting additions that highlight the program’s commitment to variety and relevance. Members will have the unique opportunity to attend a class on artificial intelligence, taught by none other than LSC Chancellor Mario K. Castillo himself. This session aims to demystify AI and discuss its impact on daily life. Other new courses on the horizon include an opera appreciation session for culture enthusiasts, alongside practical and popular options like cooking demonstrations and various fitness classes to keep minds and bodies active. For those looking to explore beyond the classroom, ALL is also planning an engaging trip down to the historic coastal city of Galveston.

“Lifelong learning is crucial for personal enrichment and staying connected in an ever-evolving world,” said Chancellor Castillo. “I look forward to engaging with our ALL members and sharing insights on topics like AI, which impacts all generations. It’s a privilege to be part of a program that so deeply values continuous education and community engagement for our seasoned learners.”

Membership for the Academy for Lifelong Learning is an affordable $30 annually, granting members access to programs and activities across all seven Lone Star College campuses. This inclusive model allows individuals the flexibility to choose classes convenient to their location and interests, making lifelong learning accessible throughout the greater Houston area.
