**The Players Theatre Company Unveils Groundbreaking, Inclusive Production of *The Curious Incident***

**Conroe, TX – June 10, 2024** – The Players Theatre Company has opened its new production of *The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time*, a powerful and poignant show that marks a significant stride toward inclusivity and understanding of neurodiversity within the Conroe arts scene. The play, which premiered on June 7 at The Owen Theatre, runs through June 23, inviting audiences to experience a unique theatrical journey.

Performances are scheduled for Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., with Sunday matinees at 2 p.m., all held at the historic Owen Theatre, located at 225 Metcalf St. in downtown Conroe.

Directed by Adam Isbell, this production brings Simon Stephens’ acclaimed adaptation of Mark Haddon’s bestselling novel to life with a remarkably diverse cast. The story centers on Christopher Boone, a 15-year-old on the autism spectrum, who embarks on an investigation into the mysterious death of a neighborhood dog, uncovering family secrets along the way.

“This play is more than just a performance; it’s an experience designed to foster empathy and open dialogue about neurodiversity,” said Director Adam Isbell. “Our cast, many of whom identify with various abilities, has poured their hearts and souls into these roles. Their dedication and talent are truly inspiring, and their authentic portrayals bring a profound depth to Christopher’s world.”

A particularly resonant connection to the narrative comes from actor Mark Holleran, who portrays Christopher’s father, Arthur. Holleran shares a personal understanding of the story’s themes, as he has a son on the autism spectrum. “Playing Arthur has been an incredibly moving experience for me,” Holleran explained. “It’s not just about acting; it’s about sharing a part of my own life and understanding the challenges and triumphs that families face. I hope our performance can bridge gaps in understanding and show the immense potential within every individual.”

To ensure the utmost authenticity and sensitivity in its portrayal of neurodiversity, The Players Theatre Company actively collaborated with local organizations dedicated to supporting individuals with varying abilities. These partners include The Friendship Center in The Woodlands and Project Autism of Montgomery County. These collaborations have provided invaluable insights and guidance, enriching the production’s approach to the subject matter.

In a special effort to make theatre accessible to all, The Players Theatre Company will host a **sensory-friendly performance on Saturday, June 15, at 2 p.m.** This matinee is specifically designed to accommodate audience members with sensory sensitivities, featuring adjusted lighting, sound levels, and a relaxed atmosphere.

Further engaging the community, a “talk-back” session will be held after the performance on **Sunday, June 16**, featuring representatives from Project Autism. This session will offer audience members a unique opportunity for deeper discussion about the play’s themes, neurodiversity, and its impact on individuals and families.

This production represents a commendable effort by The Players Theatre Company to not only entertain but also to educate and represent the rich diversity of its community. By highlighting stories that resonate deeply and by championing inclusive casting, the company reinforces its role as a vital cultural institution in Conroe.
