Conroe ISD Adopts 2024-25 School Calendar

CONROE, TX – January 18, 2024 – The Conroe Independent School District Board of Trustees officially adopted the 2024-2025 academic calendar during their regular meeting on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, setting the schedule for students and staff across the rapidly growing district. The new calendar, developed through an extensive process incorporating significant community feedback, outlines key instructional days, holidays, and professional development days for the upcoming school year.

Students in Conroe ISD will kick off the 2024-2025 school year on Wednesday, August 14, 2024. The calendar culminates with the final day of school for students on Wednesday, May 22, 2025, which will be an early release day. An additional early release day is scheduled for December 20, 2024, ahead of the Winter Break.

Major breaks designed to provide students and staff with opportunities for rest and family time include a full week off for Thanksgiving, from Monday, November 25, through Friday, November 29, 2024. Winter Break is slated from Monday, December 23, 2024, to Friday, January 3, 2025. Students will return to classes after the new year on Tuesday, January 7, 2025. Spring Break is scheduled for the week of March 10 to March 14, 2025.

Beyond these major holidays, the calendar specifies several student holidays and staff workdays throughout the year. Students will observe a holiday on Monday, September 2, 2024, for Labor Day. Friday, October 11, 2024, is designated as a staff development day, followed by a student holiday and staff workday on Monday, October 14, 2024.

In the new year, Monday, January 6, 2025, will be a student holiday and staff workday. Further student holidays include Friday, March 28, 2025, for staff development; Friday, April 18, 2025, for Good Friday; and Monday, April 21, 2025, which serves as another student holiday and staff workday.

The adopted calendar is the result of a comprehensive and collaborative effort. A 12-member calendar committee spearheaded its development, meticulously reviewing various factors including state-mandated instructional time, local traditions, and the need for professional development. The committee formulated three potential calendar options, which were then presented to the community for input.

“This calendar reflects a thoughtful balance of instructional time, necessary breaks for students and staff, and critical opportunities for professional development,” said Dr. Curtis Null, Conroe ISD Superintendent. “Our ultimate goal is to create an academic environment that supports high-quality learning while also prioritizing the well-being and growth of every student and staff member.”

The district placed a high value on community feedback throughout the process. Over 9,000 survey responses were collected from parents and community members within the Conroe ISD boundaries, providing crucial insights that heavily influenced the final decision. This extensive participation underscores the community’s deep engagement in district-level planning.

“The overwhelming participation in our calendar survey underscores the deep engagement our community has in the success of our schools,” stated Board President Skeeter Hubert. “The Board is confident that this adopted calendar serves the best interests of our students, families, and dedicated staff, shaped by their valuable input and the diligent work of our calendar committee.”

Conroe ISD, one of the largest and fastest-growing school districts in Texas, serves over 70,000 students across 60 campuses in Montgomery County. The calendar is a vital tool for families and staff to plan their schedules for the upcoming academic year.

The full 2024-2025 academic calendar, including additional details and important dates, is available for review on the official Conroe ISD website at www.conroeisd.net/calendar. Parents are encouraged to review the calendar to facilitate planning for school events, family vacations, and childcare arrangements.
