Ex-Judge Mack Adopts 6-Year-Old Aubrey

**Conroe, Texas – June 17, 2024** – In a courthouse ceremony filled with smiles and a renewed sense of purpose, former Conroe Justice of the Peace Wayne Mack officially adopted his six-year-old foster daughter, Aubrey, on Friday, June 14, 2024. The adoption finalized an 18-month journey that began in December 2022, marking a heartwarming new chapter for the family in Montgomery County.

The proceedings at the Montgomery County Courthouse, overseen by Judge Mark C. Kent, culminated a process that was deeply personal for Mack. A well-known figure in the community from his many years of public service, Mack retired from his role as Justice of the Peace Pct. 1 at the end of 2022. His decision to open his home to a foster child came after a series of profound personal losses that left his Conroe home feeling empty.

Mack lost his first wife in 2012, then remarried Denise in 2016, only to tragically lose her in 2020. The passing of his mother in May 2022 further compounded his grief. At 62, with an empty house, Mack felt a strong desire to give a child a second chance at a loving, permanent home.

Aubrey’s arrival in December 2022 quickly transformed Mack’s life. With a vibrant personality and a love for “everything pink and purple, unicorns, and rainbows,” as Mack fondly described, she brought joy and energy back into his home. Their bond blossomed rapidly, with Aubrey affectionately calling him “Daddy” from early on.

“It’s been 18 months, and it’s taken 18 months for us to get to this point,” Mack shared after the adoption was finalized, underscoring the extensive legal and emotional process involved in foster-to-adopt placements. The journey, while lengthy, solidified a family connection built not by blood, but by love and commitment.

Jennifer Johnson, a caseworker with Child Protective Services (CPS), was present for the joyous occasion. Johnson emphasized the profound truth that “a family isn’t something that’s always connected by blood,” a sentiment that deeply resonates with the Mack family’s story. Adoptions like Aubrey’s highlight the critical role of foster parents in providing stability and a future for children in need within the Montgomery County community and across Texas.

For Mack, the adoption of Aubrey represents a renewed sense of purpose and a commitment to ensuring she has a permanent, loving home. Aubrey is now officially “Daddy’s girl forever,” a testament to the powerful bond forged through fostering and the life-changing impact of adoption. The new family in Conroe embarks on their future together, filled with the promise of more pink, purple, unicorns, and rainbows.
