**Conroe/Montgomery, TX – January 16, 2020** – The race for local leadership officially began Wednesday, January 15, as candidate filing opened for the upcoming May 2 municipal elections in both the City of Conroe and the City of Montgomery. Aspiring candidates have just under a month to submit their paperwork, with the deadline set for Friday, February 14, at 5 p.m.

Residents in both communities will cast ballots for key leadership roles, shaping the direction of their respective cities for the coming years.

**Conroe’s Full Slate and Open Mayoral Race**

In Conroe, voters will decide on a full slate of positions, including the Mayor’s seat and City Council Places 1, 2, and 3. The mayoral position is notably wide open following the unfortunate passing of former Mayor Toby Powell last year.
