**Grand Oaks High School Stabbing: Student Charged, Victim Stable Amid Ongoing Investigation**

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX – A serious stabbing incident at Grand Oaks High School on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, has left one male student critically injured and another facing felony charges, sending shockwaves through the Conroe Independent School District community. The altercation, reportedly stemming from a dispute over a female student, unfolded inside the school building near the front office around 10:15 a.m.

Authorities swiftly identified and apprehended 18-year-old Ulysses Alexander Rodriguez, a student at Grand Oaks High, shortly after the attack. Rodriguez has been charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and is currently held at the Montgomery County Jail on a $100,000 bond. Having turned 18 in April, he is being charged as an adult by the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office.

The male victim, whose identity has not been released due to his minor status, sustained life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Houston Medical Center. Officials confirmed Thursday, June 6, that his condition had stabilized, offering a measure of relief to concerned parents and students.

According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO), the quick response from law enforcement and school staff was crucial. MCSO Lieutenant Scott Spencer stated that deputies, working in conjunction with the Conroe ISD Police Department, secured the scene rapidly. He credited another student with alerting school staff to the incident, which aided in the immediate intervention. The knife believed to have been used in the attack was recovered at the scene.

“Our teams responded incredibly fast, and we are grateful for the swift actions of both our personnel and a vigilant student that allowed us to contain the situation quickly,” Lt. Spencer said during a press briefing. “The investigation is active and ongoing, as we work to piece together the full timeline of events leading up to this unfortunate incident.”

Following the stabbing, the school was placed under a temporary lockdown or “shelter-in-place” order as emergency personnel responded and secured the premises. Parents were notified of the incident via school communication channels. Grand Oaks High School dismissed students early on Tuesday, and counseling services have been made available to students and staff grappling with the traumatic event.

Conroe ISD Superintendent Dr. Curtis Null addressed the community, reassuring them that the incident was “isolated” and emphasizing the school’s unwavering commitment to maintaining a safe learning environment. “There is no ongoing threat to other students,” Dr. Null stated, acknowledging the concerns of parents but stressing the robustness of the school’s safety protocols. “We are reviewing every aspect of this incident to ensure we continue to provide the safest possible environment for our students and staff.”
