Grand Oaks High Student Stabbing

SPRING, Texas – A student at Grand Oaks High School was hospitalized Tuesday, January 23, after being stabbed on campus, prompting a swift response from law enforcement and school officials and raising concerns about safety within the school community. The incident, which unfolded near the portable buildings during school hours, resulted in the apprehension of another male student now facing charges.

The victim, whose identity has not been released due to his age, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Houston Northwest Hospital for treatment. His current condition has not been updated, but initial reports confirmed his injuries were not critical.

According to preliminary details from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and the Conroe ISD Police Department, the stabbing occurred after a dispute between two male students escalated. School resource officers (SROs), who are routinely stationed at Conroe ISD high schools, were quick to intervene, taking the alleged aggressor into custody shortly after the incident.

The suspect, also a male student whose identity is being withheld due to his age, is facing charges in connection with the stabbing. While specific charges have not yet been publicly disclosed, such incidents typically result in felony charges such as aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office stated the investigation is active and ongoing to determine the full circumstances leading to the altercation.

In the immediate aftermath, Grand Oaks High School initiated a “secure in place” protocol, ensuring students and staff remained in their classrooms while law enforcement secured the specific area of the incident. This measure was lifted relatively quickly once the scene was contained and the suspect was in custody, minimizing disruption to the broader campus operations.

Conroe ISD Superintendent Dr. Curtis Null promptly communicated with parents and guardians via email and other district channels, assuring them of the school’s commitment to student safety. In his message, Dr. Null commended the rapid and effective response from both school staff and the responding law enforcement agencies, including the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and the Conroe ISD Police Department, who immediately swarmed the campus to manage the situation.

The district has made counseling services available to students and staff who may be affected by the unsettling event. Grand Oaks High School, located at 4800 Riley Fuzzel Road in Spring, serves a large student population within the Conroe Independent School District, which emphasizes a multi-layered approach to campus security, including SROs, surveillance systems, and emergency protocols.

Authorities have not yet released details regarding the weapon used or the nature of the dispute that preceded the stabbing. The investigation is expected to continue with interviews of witnesses and collection of evidence.

Conroe ISD encourages anyone with further information related to the incident to contact local law enforcement.
