**Conroe Ready to Roll Out Red Carpet for Annual Isaac Conroe Founder’s Day Celebration This Saturday**

CONROE, TX – Conroe is preparing to host its much-anticipated annual Isaac Conroe Founder’s Day celebration this Saturday, June 8th, offering a vibrant deep dive into the city’s rich history and the legacy of its namesake. The free family-friendly event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., centered around the Heritage Museum of Montgomery County and the picturesque Candy Cane Park.

Attendees can expect a day filled with historical immersion and entertainment. The city’s founder, Isaac Conroe, will be brought to life by reenactor Don Hampton, joined by Kathleen Stewart portraying his wife, Margaret. Throughout the event, various period demonstrations will transport visitors to early Texas life, showcasing essential pioneer skills like blacksmithing, chuck wagon cooking, weaving, and quilting.

The air will resonate with the sounds of traditional folk and bluegrass music, performed by the Heritage Museum Strummers and talented fiddler Sarah Smith. For art enthusiasts, the Conroe Art League Gallery, conveniently located within the park, will feature engaging displays and activities.

Beyond the historical elements, the celebration ensures a full family experience with a variety of food trucks on site offering diverse culinary options and sweet treats. Younger attendees will delight in bounce houses, face painting, and a selection of games.

The celebration is a collaborative effort, presented by the Heritage Museum of Montgomery County in partnership with the City of Conroe and the Conroe Art League. The Heritage Museum itself, housed in the historic 1904 Strake-Gray House at 1506 I-45 North, will have its current exhibits open for exploration, including “A Century of Conroe” and a temporary display dedicated to Montgomery County schools. More information about the museum can be found at heritagemuseum.us. For details on the Conroe Art League and its offerings, visit conroeartleague.com.

Isaac Conroe, the visionary figure behind the city’s inception, established himself in the area in 1878. By 1881, he had built the Conroe Sawmill, which became the economic heart around which the community organically grew. Initially known as “Conroe’s Switch” due to its strategic location along the Houston & Great Northern Railroad, the settlement officially incorporated as a town by 1886. Conroe further contributed to the burgeoning community by serving as a Montgomery County Judge before his passing in 1897.

This annual Founder’s Day celebration serves as a vital opportunity for residents and visitors alike to connect with Conroe’s foundational legacy and appreciate the significant journey the city has undertaken since its humble beginnings.
