**Crighton Theatre Presents Steinbeck’s Powerful “Of Mice and Men” for Two Weekends

Conroe, TX – The Crighton Theatre is set to captivate audiences with its poignant production of John Steinbeck’s timeless drama, “Of Mice and Men.” Directed by Melanie Medley, this classic tale of friendship, dreams, and hardship opens its two-weekend run on Friday, February 2, at the historic venue located at 234 N Main St.

Set against the stark backdrop of 1930s California during the Great Depression, “Of Mice and Men” explores the unbreakable bond between George Milton, a quick-witted migrant worker, and Lennie Small, his mentally disabled but physically powerful companion. Their shared dream of owning a small piece of land is continually tested by the harsh realities of their itinerant lives and the prejudices they encounter. Steinbeck’s profound work delves into themes of loneliness, the elusive American Dream, and the heartbreaking challenges faced by those on society’s margins, promising a deeply moving theatrical experience.

Director Melanie Medley leads a dedicated production team, with Bob Turner handling set design to meticulously recreate the authentic atmosphere of a 1930s ranch. Adam Isbell’s lighting design further enhances the emotional landscape of the story, while Amy Meeks serves as stage manager and Layne Escamilla produces.

The cast features a blend of seasoned and emerging talent, bringing Steinbeck’s iconic characters to life. Michael Miller portrays the protective and burdened George Milton, opposite John Bisceglie as the gentle giant, Lennie Small.
