“For twenty years, the Charles B. Stewart Library has been far more than just a place to borrow books; it has been a true community hub,” said Sarah Chen, Director of the Charles B. Stewart Library. “This anniversary is a testament to the unwavering support from our patrons, volunteers, and the Montgomery County community. We are incredibly excited to celebrate this milestone and reflect on the positive impact we’ve made together.”

The celebratory event promises activities for all ages, including engaging family activities, live entertainment from local musicians, and of course, a celebratory cake and refreshments. Attendees will also have the opportunity to explore historical displays showcasing the library’s evolution, key milestones, and cherished memories from its two decades of service.

The library, named after the esteemed former Montgomery County Judge Charles B. Stewart, has grown significantly since its inception. Judge Stewart, a prominent figure known for his dedication to public service and education, served the county with distinction for many years. His legacy of commitment to fostering knowledge and community well-being continues to inspire the library’s mission.

“Judge Stewart’s vision for a thriving, educated community is beautifully embodied in this library,” stated David Miller, President of the Friends of the Charles B. Stewart Library. “As the largest branch in the county system, it provides essential resources, from early literacy programs for children to critical digital literacy training for adults, and a welcoming space for everyone. The Friends are proud to support this ongoing legacy and help make this anniversary a truly memorable occasion.”

The Friends of the Library group plays a crucial role in enhancing the library’s offerings and will be actively involved in the anniversary festivities. Their dedication helps fund special programs, acquire new materials, and support initiatives that benefit the entire community.

Over the past twenty years, the Charles B. Stewart Library has become a bustling center for learning, offering a wide array of programs including popular story times, book clubs, computer classes, cultural workshops, and author events. It serves as a crucial access point for technology, providing free internet access and computer workstations, bridging the digital divide for many residents.
