Montgomery Co. primary early vote turnout tops 8%

**Montgomery County Gears Up for Primary Election Day After Modest Early Turnout**

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX – As the final countdown to the March 5 primary election day begins, Montgomery County voters have one last opportunity to cast their ballots and help shape the future leadership from local to national levels. Early voting concluded on March 1, seeing a noticeable decline in turnout compared to the last presidential primary cycle.

As of the evening of February 26, midway through the early voting period, just over 8% of registered voters in Montgomery County had cast their ballots. A total of 39,235 votes were recorded, out of the county’s 481,228 registered voters. This figure reflects the period from early voting’s start on February 19 through February 26.

The vast majority of these early ballots were cast in person, with 35,935 votes representing 7.47% of the registered pool. An additional 3,300 votes, or about 0.69%, came in via mail. While early voting numbers for the entire period ending March 1 are still being compiled and will be officially released by the Montgomery County Elections Administrator, these preliminary figures set the stage for Election Day.

The turnout so far trails the previous presidential primary in 2020, where total early voting reached 77,294 ballots, accounting for 19.9% of registered voters at that time.

Voters in both Republican and Democratic primaries are deciding on their preferred presidential candidates, but also participating in crucial local contests that will directly impact the community. Key races on the ballot include:
* U.S. House District 2
* State House Districts 3 and 16
* State Senate District 4
* Montgomery County Precinct 1 Commissioner

“Primary elections are incredibly important, especially in a county like Montgomery where many races are often decided long before the general election,” stated Dr. Sarah Jenkins, a local political analyst. “These early decisions by primary voters determine who will even appear on the November ballot, making participation critical for ensuring representation that truly reflects the community’s values.”
