Conroe Lions Raise Funds, Serve Community

Conroe, TX – March 27, 2024 – The Conroe Noon Lions Club has announced a significant triumph for its charitable initiatives, successfully raising over $37,000 at its annual Monte Carlo fundraiser held early this past February. The impressive sum, generated at the elegant April Sound Country Club, is earmarked to bolster two critical programs: the local White Cane Project, which provides essential vision screenings and eyeglasses for Montgomery County residents, and the Texas Lions Camp, dedicated to serving children with disabilities.

Attendees at the “Roaring Twenties Monte Carlo Night” enjoyed an evening of lively casino games, including blackjack, roulette, and poker, alongside competitive silent and live auctions. Community members and local businesses contributed a wide array of items and experiences, making the auctions a key driver in reaching the impressive fundraising total.

“The success of our Monte Carlo fundraiser is a testament to the incredible generosity and dedication of our community and club members,” said John Smith, President of the Conroe Noon Lions Club. “Every dollar raised goes directly back into empowering individuals in Montgomery County, from ensuring a child can see clearly in school to sending a deserving child to the life-changing Texas Lions Camp. It truly embodies our motto, ‘We Serve.'”

The White Cane Project is a cornerstone of the Conroe Noon Lions Club’s local efforts, providing vision care to low-income and uninsured individuals in Montgomery County. The program partners with local optometrists and optical providers to offer comprehensive screenings and prescription eyewear, removing significant financial barriers to critical health services. Similarly, the Texas Lions Camp in Kerrville, TX, offers a unique, free summer camp experience for children with physical disabilities, Type 1 diabetes, cancer, and Down syndrome, fostering independence and building confidence in a supportive environment.

Beyond their fundraising success, the Conroe Noon Lions Club has maintained a highly visible presence in the community. This past Sunday, March 24th, club members proudly participated in the Montgomery County Fair Parade, rolling their specially decorated float through the festivities to the cheers of onlookers. Their commitment to the annual fair extends further, as they are actively managing concession stands at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds in Conroe. From Friday, March 22nd, through Tuesday, April 2nd, fairgoers can support the Lions Club’s impactful local projects directly by purchasing food and beverages from their stands.

“Being present at events like the Montgomery County Fair Parade and operating the concessions isn’t just about fundraising; it’s about connecting with our community and showing them firsthand how their support translates into tangible benefits,” added Sarah Jones, Lions Club Fair Coordinator. “We encourage everyone to stop by our stands during the fair – every purchase helps us continue our vital work.”

The Conroe Noon Lions Club convenes for its weekly meetings on Wednesdays at noon at the Lone Star Convention Center. The club is actively seeking new members who are eager to contribute their time and passion to serving the community.
