Hoppers Surprise Conroe Church After Booking Error

**Gospel Giants The Hoppers Deliver Surprise “Miracle” Performance at First Methodist Conroe**

**Conroe, TX – March 11, 2024** – A routine Sunday service at First Methodist Conroe took an unexpected, “miraculous” turn on March 10th when a booking error brought a Grammy-nominated, Gospel Music Hall of Fame group to their worship service instead of the anticipated performers.

The congregation, gathered for their 11:00 a.m. worship at 4308 W. Davis St., had been looking forward to a performance by the North Carolina-based gospel group, Southern Sound, an event nearly a year in the making. However, a mix-up by a third-party booking agent scheduled gospel music legends The Hoppers for the slot intended for Southern Sound.

Pastor Mike Lindstrom of First Methodist Conroe recounted the unfolding surprise. “We had been anticipating Southern Sound for quite some time, so when The Hoppers arrived, there was certainly a moment of confusion, followed swiftly by absolute astonishment and joy,” Pastor Lindstrom told local media. “It truly felt like divine intervention, turning what could have been a significant disappointment into an unforgettable blessing.”

The Hoppers, celebrated for their powerful harmonies and decades of ministry through music, were already in Conroe, having performed a concert at Conroe’s Ark Family Church the previous evening. Upon discovering the scheduling conflict, rather than seeing the church left without musical guests, the esteemed gospel family group graciously offered to perform.

Dean Hopper, the patriarch of the group, along with his wife Kim, son Matt, daughter-in-law Michelle, and granddaughter Karlye, took to the stage. “We believe in honoring commitments and sharing the Lord’s music wherever we’re called,” Dean Hopper explained. “When we realized there was a mix-up, we couldn’t just leave. The opportunity to minister to the wonderful people of First Methodist Conroe was a privilege, and performing for them, free of charge, was simply the right thing to do. Seeing the joy on their faces was our biggest reward.”

The spontaneous performance by The Hoppers, renowned for their classic Southern Gospel sound and inspiring messages, transformed the Sunday service into a profoundly moving experience. Congregation members were treated to the group’s signature blend of uplifting music and heartfelt testimony.

“Our sanctuary was filled with such beautiful music and a powerful spirit,” Pastor Lindstrom added. “To have a group of their caliber, with their history and talent, perform so spontaneously and generously for our church was truly a ‘miraculous’ gift. It’s a Sunday we won’t soon forget.”

First Methodist Conroe has expressed immense gratitude to The Hoppers for their kindness and dedication to their ministry. The unexpected turn of events has become a cherished story within the church community, highlighting the power of generosity and the unexpected blessings that can arise from unforeseen circumstances.
