NCL Conroe Chapter’s March Community Impact

**Conroe, Texas – April 16, 2024** – The National Charity League, Inc., Conroe Chapter, concluded a monumental spring service effort in March, with its 280 mother-daughter members dedicating over 700 collective hours to uplift 30 different local philanthropies across Montgomery County. The extensive volunteerism underscores the chapter’s deep commitment to community engagement and instilling philanthropic values in its younger members.

Founded in 2007, the NCL Conroe Chapter is part of a national organization focused on fostering a tradition of service and leadership development through a unique mother-daughter model. Each year, members commit to a minimum number of service hours, but their dedication often far exceeds expectations, as evidenced by March’s impactful contributions.

“Our members, mothers and daughters alike, poured their hearts into serving Montgomery County this March, demonstrating the incredible power of collective action,” said Sarah Jenkins, President of the NCL Conroe Chapter. “It’s truly inspiring to witness their dedication and the tangible difference we can make when we work together to support the diverse needs of our community partners.”

The scope of their work spanned a wide range of critical services, touching countless lives. For Meals on Wheels Montgomery County, NCL members packed dozens of “Box of Love” care packages, filled with essential hygiene items and engaging activities. These thoughtful packages were then delivered alongside regular meals, providing comfort and dignity to homebound seniors.

“The ‘Box of Love’ packages provided by NCL brought immense joy and essential items to our clients,” noted Maria Rodriguez, Volunteer Coordinator for Meals on Wheels Montgomery County. “Their support allows us to go beyond just delivering meals, addressing critical needs for dignity and comfort for some of our community’s most vulnerable residents.”

At Children’s Safe Harbor, a facility providing a safe place for child victims of abuse, NCL volunteers helped decorate for an Easter event and thoughtfully assembled activity bags designed to bring comfort and distraction to children visiting the center. The Conroe House of Prayer, which serves individuals and families experiencing hardship, saw volunteers meticulously organizing their clothes closet and preparing essential food bags for distribution.

Foster youth at Angel Reach benefited from the NCL Conroe Chapter’s efforts as members sorted and organized vital donations, ensuring that children transitioning through the foster care system have access to necessary supplies. At Inspiration Ranch, a therapeutic riding center for individuals with physical, mental, and emotional challenges, volunteers got hands-on, cleaning barns and arenas and working directly with the special needs horses that are central to the ranch’s mission.

Further contributions included sorting donations and restocking shelves for the Montgomery County Food Bank, which addresses food insecurity for thousands of local families. NCL members also assisted with The Friendship Center’s “Go Red for Seniors” lunch, an event promoting heart health and community for local seniors. Children’s Books on Wheels, an organization dedicated to promoting literacy, received vital support as volunteers organized thousands of books, preparing them for distribution to children in need.

The chapter also lent its support to The Woodlands Children’s Museum, helping to prepare for their annual spring fundraiser, a key event for the museum’s educational programming. At the Montgomery County Animal Shelter, members assisted with adoption events and spent time playing with animals, providing much-needed socialization and comfort to pets awaiting their forever homes. Finally, Family Promise of Montgomery County, which offers support to homeless families, saw volunteers organizing and cleaning facilities to ensure a welcoming and supportive environment.

This extensive month of service exemplifies the National Charity League’s mission to foster philanthropic leadership in young women and instill a lifelong commitment to giving back. The NCL Conroe Chapter continues to be a powerful force for good, making a significant and tangible difference across a wide spectrum of needs in the Montgomery County area.
