**CONROE, TX – February 8, 2024** – The Montgomery County Black Cultural Society (MCBCS) is proud to present a landmark art exhibition, “Lines, Legends & Limitless Talent,” celebrating the profound contributions of Black American artists. Opening with a vibrant public reception on **Saturday, February 17, 2024, from 12-4 p.m.**, the exhibition will transform the galleries of the **Heritage Museum of Montgomery County, located at 111 W. Phillips Street in Conroe**.

Timed perfectly with Black History Month, this significant showcase aims to highlight the diverse artistic expressions and rich cultural heritage of Black American creators. The exhibition will remain on display for the community to explore through **March 30, 2024**.

A pivotal aspect of “Lines, Legends & Limitless Talent” is the curatorial leadership of **Dr. Alvia J. Wardlaw**, the esteemed Curator of Modern & Contemporary Art at Texas Southern University and founder/director of its renowned University Museum. Dr. Wardlaw’s expertise ensures a meticulously selected and thoughtfully arranged collection that spans various artistic styles and media, including powerful paintings, intricate sculptures, and dynamic multi-media installations.

The exhibition features a diverse array of both historical and contemporary Black American artists, many of whom have garnered national and international acclaim. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with works from celebrated figures such as **Angelbert Metoyer**, known for his complex, mythic narratives; **Robert Pruitt**, whose art often explores identity, history, and speculative futures; **Ann Johnson**, a multimedia artist focusing on race, gender, and memory; **Janice Bond**, a versatile artist, curator, and cultural producer; and **Cedric Crear**, the current Mayor Pro Tem of Las Vegas, whose artistic talents are also highlighted.

Many of the compelling pieces on display are drawn from the exceptional private collection of **Dr. Jean and Dr. Larry Wardlaw**, prominent Houston collectors of African American art, significantly supplemented by works contributed directly by the participating artists themselves. This unique blend offers a comprehensive look at the depth and breadth of Black American artistic achievement.

The opening reception on February 17th provides a unique and exciting opportunity for art enthusiasts and community members to meet some of the participating artists, engage in discussions about their work, and enjoy light refreshments in an inspiring setting.

Admission to both the Heritage Museum of Montgomery County and this special “Lines, Legends & Limitless Talent” exhibition is entirely free, inviting everyone to discover and celebrate this powerful and enriching collection.
