Bridgewood Farms IDD Center Needs Funding; Golf Event

**Bridgewood Farms Seeks Community Support to Complete Crucial New Day Service Center**

**Conroe, TX –** Bridgewood Farms, a cornerstone organization in Montgomery County dedicated to empowering adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), is calling on the community for support as it races to complete a vital new $4.5 million Day Service Activity Center. Located on its expansive 53-acre campus at 11620 Rose Road in Conroe, the facility broke ground in Fall 2023 with a target completion of Fall 2024, but still requires approximately $1.7 million to realize its full vision.

Serving the community for over five decades, Bridgewood Farms offers essential programs that enhance the quality of life and foster independence for adults with IDD. The new Day Service Activity Center is a critical undertaking, designed to replace their current facility, which is roughly 50 years old, significantly undersized, and can no longer adequately meet the growing demand in Montgomery County.

DeAnn Guidry, Executive Director of Bridgewood Farms, emphasized the urgent need for the expanded space. “We currently have to turn away individuals due to space constraints, which is heartbreaking,” Guidry stated. “These adults deserve more – more opportunities, more specialized support, and a modern environment where they can thrive. This new center will allow us to double our daily capacity and serve many more individuals who desperately need our services.”

Once complete, the new center will nearly double Bridgewood Farms’ daily capacity, enabling it to serve up to 60 adults each day, a significant increase from the current 35-40. The facility will boast modern classrooms, specialized therapy rooms, dedicated vocational training areas, a functional kitchen designed for life skills instruction, and a fitness room, all meticulously planned to enhance the cognitive, social, and physical well-being of the participants.

To help bridge the remaining $1.7 million funding gap for this ambitious “Building Our Future” capital campaign, The Woodlands Lions Club is stepping up as a dedicated partner. They will host their 35th Annual Golf Tournament on Monday, May 6, 2024, at the scenic Panther Trails Golf Course at The Woodlands Resort. This long-standing event serves as a crucial fundraiser for Bridgewood Farms.

The tournament will feature an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. Golfers can register for $175 per individual or $600 for a foursome until the April 1st deadline. After April 1st, prices will increase to $200 per golfer and $700 per foursome. The day promises a full experience, including breakfast, lunch, a silent auction featuring a variety of items, and an awards ceremony. A range of sponsorship opportunities are also available, from $125 to $5,000, offering businesses and individuals a chance to support this vital cause while gaining community visibility.

The Woodlands Lions Club, part of Lions Clubs International, is a service organization known for its commitment to local and global community betterment, with a strong history of supporting organizations like Bridgewood Farms. Their continued dedication through this annual golf tournament underscores the importance of the new Day Service Activity Center for the Montgomery County community.

Community involvement is essential to ensure Bridgewood Farms can complete this much-needed facility and continue its mission of providing comprehensive programs that foster independence, dignity, and a fulfilling life for adults with IDD.
