Bridgewood Farms Launches New Day Program

**Bridgewood Farms Unveils Transformative Day Service Program, Bolstered by $25,000 Lions Club Donation**

**Conroe, TX – June 3, 2024** – Bridgewood Farms, a long-standing pillar in the Montgomery County community, officially launched its highly anticipated new Day Service Program on Friday, May 31, 2024. Located at 20680 FM 1488 in Conroe, this new initiative is designed to provide engaging activities, social interaction, and crucial skill development specifically for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), addressing a vital need for structured, supportive environments outside of residential settings.

The grand opening ceremony was a celebration of community spirit and dedication, drawing local dignitaries and supporters. Congressman Kevin Brady was on hand to present a Congressional Proclamation, acknowledging Bridgewood Farms’ decades of dedicated service to the community. Commissioner James Noack also presented a Montgomery County Commissioners Court Proclamation, further cementing the local government’s recognition of the organization’s impact.

“Organizations like Bridgewood Farms are the heart of our community,” stated Congressman Kevin Brady at the ceremony. “Their unwavering dedication to enhancing the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities sets a powerful example, and it’s an honor to present this Congressional Proclamation recognizing their profound impact.”

Commissioner Noack echoed these sentiments, adding, “Montgomery County is committed to fostering an inclusive environment for all its residents. Bridgewood Farms’ new Day Service Program is a testament to the power of community and provides invaluable resources that enrich countless lives right here in our county.”

A significant boost for the program came from The Woodlands Lions Club, who recently donated a generous $25,000 to facilitate the purchase of a new van. This vehicle is critical for safely transporting participants to and from the facility, as well as for various community outings, enabling greater access and independence.

“The Woodlands Lions Club is incredibly proud to support Bridgewood Farms’ new Day Service Program,” stated Mark Thompson, President of The Woodlands Lions Club. “We understand the vital role transportation plays in accessing opportunities, and this new van will be a cornerstone in ensuring participants can engage fully with both the facility and the wider community.”

The new Day Service Program aims to enrich the lives of its participants by offering a structured and supportive environment that enables them to live more fully. A typical day might include morning exercises, a group learning session on budgeting, an art therapy class, and a social hour before an afternoon community outing to a local park or grocery store. The program’s curriculum focuses on life skills, vocational exploration, social development, and personal wellness, tailored to individual needs and abilities.

“This program is a dream come true for our participants and their families,” said Sarah Jenkins, Executive Director of Bridgewood Farms. “It fills a critical gap in our community, offering a vibrant space where adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities can grow, learn, and truly belong. The generosity of The Woodlands Lions Club, making our transportation dream a reality, is simply transformative.”

For over 50 years, Bridgewood Farms has been a beacon of hope for individuals with IDD in Montgomery County and surrounding areas. Founded by a group of dedicated parents, the organization has grown from a small residential facility to a comprehensive center offering residential living, vocational training, and now, the new Day Service Program. Currently, Bridgewood Farms serves over 100 individuals, fostering an environment of dignity, respect, and independence.

The new Day Service Program is now open for enrollment. Families interested in learning more about the program, its activities, and admission requirements are encouraged to contact Bridgewood Farms directly or visit their website.
