Chamber Team, Young Guns Win History Road Rally

**Conroe Chamber Team Dominates, Wins 13th Annual History Road Rally**

**Conroe, TX – March 25, 2024** – The Conroe/Lake Conroe Chamber of Commerce team has once again proven their historical prowess, claiming the top prize in the adult division at the 13th Annual History Road Rally this past Saturday, March 23. Organized by the Montgomery County Historical Commission (MCHC), the popular event brought together history buffs and competitive spirits for a county-wide scavenger hunt on wheels.

The winning team, comprised of seasoned road rally participants Scott and Melanie De Lacy, Kelli and Mark Dehne, and Laura and Mike Magee, masterfully navigated a challenging course of historical sites throughout Montgomery County. Their keen eye for detail and swift problem-solving skills allowed them to decipher a series of clues, earning them the coveted traveling trophy. This marks their second victory, having previously secured the top spot in 2017.

“It’s always a thrill to explore our county’s rich past, and doing it with such a great group of friends makes winning even sweeter,” said Scott De Lacy, a member of the triumphant Chamber team. “The clues this year were particularly clever, really making us dig deep into local lore and architectural details. It’s fantastic how much you learn about your own community during this event.”

The rally, which commenced and concluded at the picturesque Heritage Museum of Montgomery County in Conroe’s Candy Cane Park, drew an impressive 17 participating teams. Fifteen teams competed in the adult division, showcasing a diverse range of local residents eager to test their knowledge and explore hidden gems.

“The History Road Rally is one of our cornerstone events, designed to engage residents of all ages with the incredible stories embedded within Montgomery County,” stated Suzie Smith, Chair of the Montgomery County Historical Commission. “Seeing the excitement on participants’ faces, whether they’re seasoned historians or new to local history, truly reinforces our mission to preserve and promote our shared heritage. We extend our warmest congratulations to all the winners and participants for making this year a resounding success.”

In the fiercely competitive youth division, “Team Young Guns” emerged victorious. Ethan Liles, Andrew Sudduth, and Andrew Brown demonstrated an impressive understanding of local history and teamwork, earning their own well-deserved recognition.

“We had so much fun driving around and figuring out where all the clues were,” commented Ethan Liles from Team Young Guns. “It was cool to see places we’ve only heard about in history class and learn their stories right there. We’re already planning for next year!”

The Montgomery County Historical Commission is dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the county’s history. The annual Road Rally serves as a key initiative in achieving this mission, offering an interactive and educational experience that highlights the historical significance of various landmarks, structures, and communities throughout the region.
