Charles B. Stewart Library Marks 20 Years

**Charles B. Stewart Library to Host 20th Anniversary Celebration This Saturday**

MONTGOMERY, TX – The Charles B. Stewart Library, a cornerstone of the Montgomery community, is gearing up to celebrate its 20th anniversary with a special public event this Saturday, March 23, 2024. Residents of all ages are invited to join the festivities, which will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the library, located at 202 Honea Egypt Road.

The anniversary celebration promises a vibrant atmosphere, featuring complimentary food, a variety of engaging children’s activities, and remarks from guest speakers who will highlight the library’s two decades of dedicated service to Montgomery County.

Opened in March 2004, the Charles B. Stewart Library quickly became an indispensable resource for the rapidly growing Montgomery area. It was named in honor of Charles B. Stewart, a respected former Montgomery County Judge whose commitment to public service and community development left a lasting legacy. Judge Stewart was known for his dedication to civic improvement and his vision for a well-resourced community, making the library a fitting tribute to his work.

As a vital branch of the Montgomery County Memorial Library System, the Charles B. Stewart Library has served as a central hub for residents, providing much more than just books. Over the past twenty years, it has offered free access to computers and Wi-Fi, hosted countless story times and summer reading programs, provided educational workshops, and offered meeting spaces for local groups. Its extensive collection and digital resources have supported learning, literacy, and personal growth for thousands of patrons.

“The Charles B. Stewart Library has truly blossomed into a crucial community center,” said Jerri Frugé, Assistant Director of the Montgomery County Memorial Library System. “It’s a place where children discover the joy of reading, students find quiet study spaces, adults access job resources, and neighbors connect. This anniversary is a testament to the community’s support and the dedication of our staff and volunteers.”

Jennifer Smith, the Branch Manager for the Charles B. Stewart Library, echoed this sentiment. “We’ve seen generations grow up within these walls, from toddlers attending their first story time to seniors utilizing our technology classes,” Smith stated. “This library is a testament to the power of knowledge and community spirit. We’re incredibly proud of the role we play in Montgomery and look forward to celebrating with everyone who has made us a part of their lives.”

The celebration this Saturday is an opportunity for the community to reflect on the library’s past achievements and look forward to its future endeavors. Organizers encourage early arrival to enjoy all the activities and hear the guest speakers. Ample parking will be available on-site.
