**Children’s Safe Harbor Unveils Expansive New Conroe Facility, Ushering in a New Era for Child Victims**

**Conroe, TX –** February 20, 2026, marked a transformative day for child victims of abuse in Montgomery, San Jacinto, and Grimes counties as Children’s Safe Harbor (CSH) officially opened the doors to its monumental new facility at 1502 N. Frazier St. in Conroe. This $15 million, 40,000-square-foot project culminates years of dedicated vision and fundraising, dramatically increasing the organization’s capacity to serve vulnerable children and centralize critical support services under one roof.

The new state-of-the-art campus represents a significant leap from CSH’s previous 10,000-square-foot location on N. Thompson St., enabling the organization to assist up to 5,000 children annually—more than doubling the approximately 2,000 victims it currently serves each year. For families navigating the unimaginable trauma of child abuse, this expansion translates directly into quicker access to vital services including forensic interviews, specialized therapy, family advocacy, and medical exams, all delivered within a meticulously designed, safe, and child-friendly environment.

This new facility, built on the pillars of collaboration and compassion, makes that vision a reality.”

One of the most impactful advancements of the new Children’s Safe Harbor is its groundbreaking ability to co-locate all essential partners. This includes dedicated spaces for the Montgomery County District Attorney’s office, Child Protective Services, local law enforcement agencies, and medical providers, working seamlessly alongside CSH’s own team of therapists and advocates. This integrated approach is specifically designed to mitigate re-traumatization for child victims by minimizing the number of times they must recount their experiences and navigate separate, often intimidating, bureaucratic agencies.

Montgomery County District Attorney Brett Ligon underscored the significance of this collaboration. “Having our prosecutors working side-by-side with CSH advocates, law enforcement, and CPS under one roof will dramatically streamline investigations and prosecution processes,” Ligon said. “More importantly, it ensures that justice is pursued with the child’s well-being as the absolute priority, reducing the stress on young victims and leading to stronger, more effective cases.”

The new building’s interior boasts an array of cutting-edge resources, all designed with a trauma-informed perspective:
* Ten state-of-the-art forensic interview suites, a substantial upgrade from the previous four, ensure that more children can be interviewed efficiently, sensitively, and in a comfortable setting.
* Three dedicated courtrooms on-site streamline the legal process, sparing child victims and their families additional travel and unfamiliar court environments.
* A fully equipped medical exam suite allows for sensitive forensic medical evaluations within the same safe space.
* Numerous therapy rooms, family advocacy offices, a comprehensive training room, and a community conference room provide ample space for healing, support, and professional development.
* The entire facility embraces child-centric decor, featuring soothing color palettes, natural light, and engaging elements, complemented by separate entryways to ensure maximum comfort, privacy, and security during sensitive visits.

The journey to this grand opening, which saw its groundbreaking in October 2022, was a testament to robust community support and dedicated fundraising efforts. The $15 million project was largely funded through a combination of grants, generous individual donations, and significant contributions from key partners. Notably, The Woodlands Charities raised a remarkable $1 million, while the Montgomery County Commissioners Court allocated $1.5 million utilizing American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds, recognizing the critical need for enhanced services for abused children.
