Conroe Day Camps: Spring Break & Summer Registration Open

Conroe, TX – As school calendars mark the approach of spring, the City of Conroe’s popular holiday day camps are gearing up once again, offering a much-needed solution for parents seeking structured and fun activities for their children during school breaks. Registration is now open for the Spring Break Day Camp, scheduled to run from March 11-15, 2024.

This full-day program, a staple from Conroe Parks and Recreation, is designed for children aged 6 to 12. Operating from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, the camp provides a full schedule of engaging activities including games, arts and crafts, sports, and exciting local field trips to destinations such as nearby parks, movie theaters, or museums. All Spring Break activities will be hosted at the Oscar Johnson Jr. Community Center, conveniently located at 100 Park Place.

Parents interested in enrolling their children have until March 6, 2024, to register. The cost for the week-long program is $150 for Conroe residents, with a non-resident fee of $188. Enrollment is made easy with options to register online at cityofconroe.org or in person at the Oscar Johnson Jr. Community Center.

“Our holiday day camps are designed to provide a safe, engaging, and enriching environment for Conroe’s youth during school breaks,” said Summer Frazier, Programs and Events Manager for Conroe Parks and Recreation. “We understand the challenges working parents face in finding reliable childcare and stimulating activities for their kids. These programs offer peace of mind, knowing children are having fun, learning new things, and making memories right here in their community.”

The city’s commitment to providing supervised recreational opportunities during school holidays has been well-received. Conroe Parks and Recreation successfully ran similar full-day programs over Thanksgiving in November 2023 and throughout the Winter Break in December 2023 and January 2024, all at the Oscar Johnson Jr. Community Center with consistent hours and pricing. These camps have consistently proven popular, often reaching capacity, which underscores the advice to register early to secure a child’s spot.

Looking further ahead, parents should mark their calendars: registration for the city’s extensive Summer Camps will open on April 1, 2024. For full program details on all upcoming day camps, including specific schedules and offerings, interested individuals can visit cityofconroe.org and navigate to the “Parks and Recreation” tab, then select “Day Camp.”
