Conroe Go Texan Parade Celebrates 60 Years

**Western Heritage Shines Bright as Conroe Go Texan Parade Kicks Off 60th Anniversary Celebration and Scholarship Drive**

CONROE, TX – The spirit of the Old West galloped through downtown Conroe this past Saturday, February 17, as the annual Conroe Go Texan Parade delighted thousands of spectators, marking a vibrant start to the Conroe Go Texan Weekend and celebrating a significant 60-year milestone for the Conroe Go Texan Committee.

Beginning promptly at 1 p.m., the parade unfurled near the Montgomery County Central Appraisal District at 919 W. South Loop 336. A majestic procession of horseback riders led the charge, setting a classic Western tone that resonated through the streets. Mounted officers from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Conroe Police Department, and various Precinct Constable offices proudly guided an impressive lineup of around 70 entries.

The route wound along Frazier Street, culminating near Metcalf Street, as spectators lined sidewalks to cheer on floats, marching bands, and community groups. Entries ranged from local school organizations, including high school bands and cheerleading squads, to area businesses, civic clubs, youth groups like 4-H and FFA, and government agencies, all showcasing their vibrant community spirit. Cowboy hats, boots, and Western wear were a common sight among both participants and attendees, adding to the festive atmosphere.

At the heart of the weekend’s festivities is the enduring mission of the Conroe Go Texan Committee: to raise crucial funds for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (HLSR) scholarship program. These scholarships are vital in helping local Montgomery County students pursue their higher education dreams, making a tangible difference in the lives of many young Texans. Over its six decades, the Conroe Go Texan Committee has contributed millions to the HLSR scholarship fund, supporting dozens of students annually.

Overseeing the grand celebration as Grand Marshal was James Rollins, who also serves as the dedicated president of the Conroe Go Texan Committee. “It’s truly an honor to lead this parade, especially in such a momentous year,” Rollins remarked. “Sixty years is a testament to the unwavering commitment of our volunteers, sponsors, and the incredible generosity of the Conroe community. Every dollar raised directly supports our local youth, giving them the opportunity to achieve their educational goals, and that’s something we are immensely proud of.”
