Conroe Hosts Nation’s Largest Custom Vehicle Show

**Lone Star Throwdown Fuels Conroe Economy, Draws Thousands to Custom Vehicle Showcase**

CONROE, TX – The roar of custom engines and the gleam of meticulously polished chrome filled the Montgomery County Fairgrounds last weekend as the Lone Star Throwdown, one of the nation’s premier custom car and truck shows, brought thousands of enthusiasts and their unique vehicles to Conroe. From February 23-25, 2024, the annual event cemented its status as a major fixture on the custom vehicle circuit, registering over 2,000 custom trucks, cars, Jeeps, and SUVs and drawing participants from across the United States and Canada.

Spectators were treated to a high-octane weekend packed with diverse activities. The highly anticipated burnout contest thrilled crowds with plumes of smoke and the raw power of custom builds, while the popular mini-truck limbo saw vehicles incredibly modified to achieve impossible ground clearance. Live music performances kept the atmosphere vibrant throughout the day, featuring local and regional bands providing a soundtrack to the automotive spectacle. Hundreds of vendors lined the fairgrounds, showcasing everything from cutting-edge automotive accessories and performance parts to unique custom fabrication services, offering attendees a comprehensive look at the latest trends and innovations in vehicle customization. The weekend culminated in an awards ceremony, recognizing the standout builds across numerous categories for their craftsmanship, design, and innovation.

“Each year, the Lone Star Throwdown grows beyond our expectations, and this year was no exception,” said Lonnie Hrubik, co-organizer of the event with his son, Justin Hrubik, under their H&H Productions banner. “The passion of the builders and the enthusiasm of the fans make this event truly special. It’s incredible to see so many unique vehicles and talented individuals converge right here in Conroe.”

Since its inception in 2010 as a smaller, more intimate gathering, the Lone Star Throwdown has experienced remarkable growth, transforming into a significant economic driver for Conroe and Montgomery County. Local hotels reported full occupancy, restaurants saw a surge in patrons, and gas stations buzzed with activity as attendees poured into the area, providing a substantial boost to the local tourism and service industries.

“The economic impact of an event like the Lone Star Throwdown is invaluable for our community,” stated a representative from the Conroe Convention & Visitors Bureau. “It showcases Conroe as a vibrant destination, bringing in out-of-town visitors who support our local businesses, from hotels and eateries to retail shops. We are proud to host such a nationally recognized event.”

Beyond the spectacle and economic benefits, the event maintains a strong commitment to community service. The Lone Star Throwdown annually contributes to local charities, with beneficiaries this year including the Conroe Professional Firefighters Association and the Montgomery County Food Bank. These contributions underscore the organizers’ dedication to giving back to the community that hosts their burgeoning event.

“Being able to support local organizations like the Conroe Professional Firefighters Association and the Montgomery County Food Bank is a core part of our mission,” Justin Hrubik added. “It’s about more than just cars; it’s about bringing people together and making a positive difference where we live and work.”

For participants like Sarah Jenkins, who drove her custom Ford Bronco from Oklahoma, the event is about more than just showing off her vehicle. “It’s a huge family reunion for the custom vehicle community,” Jenkins remarked. “You see old friends, make new ones, and get endless inspiration for your next project. Lonnie and Justin truly put on a world-class show.”

Plans are already underway for the 2025 Lone Star Throwdown, with organizers anticipating an even larger turnout. Further details about the event can typically be found at lonestarthrowdown.com.
