**Conroe ISD Board Approves 2024-2025 School Calendar After Extensive Community Input**

Conroe ISD students, parents, and staff now have a clear roadmap for the upcoming academic year, as the district’s Board of Trustees officially adopted the 2024-2025 academic calendar at their December 5, 2023, meeting. The approved calendar outlines key dates, including start and end days, major holidays, and staff development days, designed to optimize instructional time while accommodating community needs.

The school year for students will commence on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, and conclude on Thursday, May 22, 2025.

Families can look forward to several scheduled breaks throughout the year. Thanksgiving Break will provide a full week off, running from Monday, November 25, to Friday, November 29, 2024. The much-anticipated Winter Break is set to begin on Monday, December 23, 2024, extending through Friday, January 3, 2025, with students returning to classes on Monday, January 6, 2025. Spring Break is scheduled for the week of March 10-14, 2025.

Additionally, the calendar includes student holidays that double as staff development days, allowing educators to continue professional growth without impacting student instruction. These days are slated for Monday, October 14, 2024; Monday, February 17, 2025; and Friday, April 18, 2025. Students will also have early release days on Friday, December 20, 2024, preceding Winter Break, and on the final day of school, Thursday, May 22, 2025.

The development of the 2024-2025 calendar was a collaborative and thorough process, guided by the district’s Calendar Committee. This committee, a diverse group comprising parents, community members, teachers, and administrators, met multiple times throughout October and November 2023. Their charge was to craft calendar drafts that balanced instructional priorities with practical considerations for families.

Following the committee’s work, the proposed drafts were made available to the broader Conroe ISD community for feedback through an online survey. This survey was open from November 8 to November 28, 2023, generating a robust response of over 6,500 submissions. District officials highlighted that this significant community input played a crucial role in shaping the final calendar presented to the Board.

Conroe ISD emphasized that the core objectives behind the calendar’s structure were to maximize instructional time for students, ensure a balanced distribution of instructional days across semesters, and meet the state-mandated 75,600 minutes of instruction. The approved calendar reflects these goals with 84 instructional days in the fall semester and 90 days in the spring semester, aiming for consistency and effective learning progression throughout the year.
