**Conroe ISD Accelerates Growth with Major Construction Projects Set for 2026 Openings**

CONROE, TX – Conroe Independent School District (CISD) is making significant strides in its ambitious building program, with several key facilities funded by the voter-approved $677.5 million bond package from May 2023 on track to open their doors in 2026. These projects are critical to accommodating the district’s rapid growth and enhancing educational opportunities for its expanding student population.

The May 2023 bond, which passed with a substantial 62.9% approval from voters, laid the groundwork for a comprehensive plan to address overcrowding, upgrade existing facilities, and prepare for future enrollment surges. Three new campuses are slated to welcome students by August 2026, alongside a major expansion of Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs at Caney Creek High School.

**Dedicated Campuses to Ease High School Overcrowding**

Two new ninth-grade campuses, designed to alleviate significant overcrowding at their respective main high schools, are nearing completion for an August 2026 opening:

* **Oak Ridge High School 9th Grade Campus:** Located at 27330 Oak Ridge High School Road in Conroe, this $56.3 million facility is designed to house 1,000 ninth-graders. Its opening will free up crucial space on the main Oak Ridge High campus for 10th through 12th graders, creating a more focused learning environment for all. The campus will feature 46 classrooms, two dedicated science labs, athletic practice fields, an 800-seat competition gymnasium, a weight room, a cafeteria, and approximately 200 parking spots.
* **Grand Oaks High School 9th Grade Campus:** Mirroring the Oak Ridge project in scope and cost, this $56.3 million campus at 4800 Riley Fuzzel Road in Spring will also open in August 2026. It is designed for 1,000 ninth-grade students and will similarly include 46 classrooms, science labs, athletic facilities, a competition gym, weight room, cafeteria, and parking, directly addressing capacity issues at the main Grand Oaks High School.

These specialized ninth-grade campuses aim to provide a smoother transition for incoming high schoolers, offering targeted support while optimizing space across the larger high school complexes.

**New Elementary School Addresses Enrollment Boom**

For the district’s youngest learners, the brand-new **Reaves Elementary School** is set to open its doors in August 2026 at 12260 Old Conroe Road in Conroe. With a budget of $37.2 million, this school will accommodate 800 students and directly relieve existing overcrowding at both Stewart and San Jacinto elementary schools. The modern facility will feature 30 classrooms, a dedicated music room, a collaborative makerspace for creative learning, a cafeteria, a gymnasium, and inviting outdoor learning areas and playgrounds.

**Expanding Career and Technical Education Opportunities**

Investing in future workforce development, Conroe ISD is also advancing a substantial $20.9 million addition to the Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs at **Caney Creek High School**. Projected for completion by Fall 2026, this expansion includes a new welding facility and broadens offerings across other CTE fields. These enhanced programs will provide students with valuable practical skills and industry certifications, better preparing them for college or direct entry into high-demand careers.

While these new campuses and expansions are the most visible signs of progress, the 2023 bond package also allocates significant funds to other critical district needs. Approximately $166.7 million is dedicated to district-wide improvements, including various maintenance projects, technology upgrades to keep pace with modern learning, transportation enhancements, and crucial safety and security projects across all campuses.

The $677.5 million bond program is a multi-year initiative, with plans for additional new schools, such as Elementary #27, High School #9, and several junior high schools, slated for future years up to 2029.
