Conroe ISD Names New Exec Directors & Principals

**Conroe ISD Announces Major Leadership Shake-Up Across District Campuses**

**CONROE, TX – May 22, 2024** – The Conroe Independent School District is set for a significant leadership transition this summer, following the Conroe ISD Board of Trustees’ approval of a series of key administrative appointments at their May 21st meeting. The changes, effective July 1, 2024, include promotions to executive-level positions and the appointment of new principals across several schools, signaling a strategic move to bolster campus leadership.

At the highest levels of campus oversight, two highly respected high school principals have been elevated to executive director roles. Dr. Janice Scott, who has served as the principal of Caney Creek High School, will assume the position of Executive Director of Campus Leadership for High Schools. Joining her in a similar capacity is Dr. Jeff Stichler, current principal of Oak Ridge High School, who will now serve as the Executive Director of Campus Leadership for Junior High and Intermediate Schools. They will work alongside Dr. Todd Waguespack, who continues as Executive Director for Elementary Schools, forming a comprehensive campus leadership team designed to provide robust support and guidance to school administrators across the district’s diverse educational landscape.

Superintendent Dr. Curtis Null emphasized the district’s commitment to cultivating strong, effective leadership. “Each of these leaders brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of what it takes to build a collaborative culture and ensure student success,” Dr. Null stated. “These reassignments reflect our dedication to maintaining excellent schools and providing the best possible support for our campus teams. We are confident that their expertise will be invaluable as we continue to grow and serve our students and community.”

The promotions of Dr. Scott and Dr. Stichler have opened up principal vacancies, which are being filled by experienced educators predominantly from within the Conroe ISD system, reflecting the district’s commitment to internal talent development.

Taking the helm at **Caney Creek High School** will be Dr. Kristin Bruther, currently serving as an Associate Principal at Grand Oaks High School. Dr. Bruther brings a strong background in high school administration and a deep understanding of student support and academic achievement.

**Oak Ridge High School** will welcome Dr. Brian Johnson as its new principal. Dr. Johnson transitions into this role from his current position as Associate Principal at College Park High School, where he has been instrumental in fostering a positive learning environment and supporting campus initiatives.

Moving to the junior high level, **Washington Junior High** will be led by Dr. Sarah Rangel, who is being promoted from her assistant principal role at Peet Junior High. Dr. Rangel’s experience at the junior high level positions her well to guide students through this critical developmental stage.

At **Cryar Intermediate School**, Nicole Newman has been named principal. Newman comes to Cryar from Caney Creek High School, where she has served as an assistant principal, bringing her leadership experience to the intermediate school setting.

**Austin Elementary School** will see Amy Lasseter step into the principal role. Lasseter has been serving as an assistant principal at Ford Elementary, demonstrating her dedication to early childhood education and foundational learning.

Finally, Rebecca St. John is being promoted to principal at **Hauke High School**, where she has distinguished herself as an assistant principal. Her promotion ensures continuity and a familiar face for the Hauke High community.

These appointments are part of Conroe ISD’s ongoing efforts to adapt its leadership structure to support its rapidly growing student population and educational objectives. As one of the largest and fastest-growing school districts in Texas, Conroe ISD regularly evaluates its administrative teams to ensure optimal support for its more than 70,000 students and 9,000 employees. The district leadership expressed enthusiasm for the new team and the positive impact these changes are expected to have on student and campus success for the upcoming academic year.
