**Student Stabbed at Grand Oaks High School, Second Conroe ISD Incident in Weeks**

**CONROE, TX – May 22, 2024** – A student was stabbed inside a restroom at Grand Oaks High School on Wednesday afternoon, marking the second such incident within the Conroe Independent School District (CISD) boundaries in just over a week and intensifying community concerns about school safety.

The incident occurred around 3 p.m. at the campus located at 4800 Riley Fuzzel Road. Conroe ISD Police confirmed that the victim sustained a non-life-threatening stab wound and was transported to a local hospital, where they are reportedly in stable condition.

Within moments of the attack, Conroe ISD Police detained a 15-year-old student in connection with the stabbing. The suspect has since been charged with felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Authorities recovered a knife at the scene. Due to their age, the names of both the victim and the detained student have not been released.

While the motive behind the attack has not been publicly disclosed, officials confirmed that the incident involved only the two students. Following the stabbing, Grand Oaks High School was placed on a brief lockout as a precautionary measure, allowing law enforcement to secure the scene and ensure no further threat existed.

This latest act of violence comes just 12 days after another student was stabbed at Caney Creek High School, also within Conroe ISD. On May 10th, two suspects were arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon following an altercation involving a group of students. While the Caney Creek incident involved multiple individuals, the Grand Oaks stabbing appears to have been an isolated confrontation between two students, according to authorities.

Conroe ISD Superintendent Dr. Curtis Null addressed the community, acknowledging the gravity of these back-to-back events. “The safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our top priority,” Dr. Null stated. “We are deeply concerned by these recent occurrences and are taking every measure to reinforce our commitment to providing a secure learning environment.”
