**Conroe Noon Lions Club Fair Sets New Record, Raises Over $225,000 for Local Scholarships**

CONROE, TX – The Conroe Noon Lions Club proudly announced a record-breaking fundraising total from its annual Conroe Noon Lions Club Fair, which concluded on April 21st, 2024. Held at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds from April 12th to the 21st, the ten-day event brought in over $225,000, a significant sum earmarked primarily for scholarships for Montgomery County students and to support the club’s various other charitable initiatives.

More than $120,000 of the funds raised this year is dedicated specifically to scholarships, which will be formally awarded to deserving students at the Lions Club Scholarship Banquet scheduled for later in May. This commitment reflects a long-standing tradition of educational support; over the past four decades, the Conroe Noon Lions Club has poured more than $3.5 million into local education through its robust scholarship programs, benefiting thousands of students pursuing higher education.

The fair itself was a bustling community affair, attracting families from across Montgomery County with a wide array of attractions. Attendees enjoyed classic carnival rides, diverse food vendors, and a popular youth livestock show and sale that highlighted the talents and hard work of local students. Crucial to hitting the fundraising target were the successful live, silent, and raffle auctions, which saw enthusiastic participation from community members eager to contribute to the club’s impactful work.

Club President George Waggoner expressed profound gratitude for the collective effort. “We are extremely grateful to all the members, volunteers, and the community for making this year a great success,” Waggoner stated, acknowledging the widespread support that underpins the fair’s achievements.

Larry Evarts, the club’s Vice President and Fair Chairman, shed light on the extensive preparation involved. “It takes hundreds of hours of planning and execution by our dedicated club members to bring an event of this scale to life,” Evarts explained. He emphasized the fair’s dual mission, noting, “Not only does it provide affordable family entertainment for our community, but it’s absolutely crucial for funding those essential student scholarships and the myriad of other charitable works our club undertakes year-round.” These charitable works typically include vision screenings, diabetes awareness campaigns, support for local veterans, and various community improvement projects.

Looking ahead, the Conroe Noon Lions Club is already setting ambitious goals. Planning for the 2025 fair is scheduled to kick off this fall, with the club aiming to surpass the $250,000 fundraising mark next year. The Conroe Noon Lions Club continues to stand as a cornerstone of community support in Montgomery County, particularly through its unwavering commitment to investing in the future of local youth.
