**Conroe Noon Lions Club Installs New Leadership, Prepares for Busy Service Year**

**CONROE, TX – June 19, 2023** – The Conroe Noon Lions Club, a beacon of community service and one of the largest Lions Clubs in Texas and globally, officially ushered in its new leadership team for the 2023-2024 service year during an installation ceremony held on June 15. As the club’s new fiscal year begins July 1, Jeff W. Johnson will take the helm as President, leading an ambitious schedule focused on expanding the club’s significant impact, particularly in vision care.

The formal ceremony, held at a local venue, saw Lion District Governor Robert “RJ” Johnson presiding, officially welcoming President Johnson and his fellow officers into their roles. District Governor Johnson commended the Conroe Noon Lions Club for its long-standing dedication and its reputation as a powerhouse of service within the wider Lions International community.

Joining President Johnson in leadership for the upcoming year are Lisa K. Johnson as First Vice President, Chris Hanlon as Second Vice President, and Dan R. Johnson as Third Vice President. The club’s operations will also be supported by Theresa R. Wagaman as Secretary, Ralph Perez as Treasurer, Jason H. Miller as Tail Twister, and Steve W. Williams as Lion Tamer. Mike S. Sproba will continue to serve the club as Immediate Past President, offering valuable continuity and experience.

“I am incredibly honored to lead the Conroe Noon Lions Club for the upcoming service year,” stated President Jeff W. Johnson. “Our club has a proud history of dedicated service, especially in vision care, and I am excited to work with our incredible team to build on that legacy. We aim to deepen our impact within the Conroe community, expand our ‘Project Zero’ initiative, and ensure that every child and individual has the opportunity to see clearly and succeed.”

The club is already looking ahead to a busy schedule of service and fundraising events. Their next regular meeting is slated for noon on Wednesday, July 5, where optometrist Dr. Rick R. Ragsdale is set to be the guest speaker. Dr. Ragsdale, a prominent local eye care professional, is expected to share insights into advancements in vision health and the critical need for accessible eye care, aligning perfectly with the Lions Club’s core mission.

Mark your calendars for two key upcoming events that are central to the club’s fundraising efforts:

* **2nd Annual “Fore Your Vision” Golf Tournament:** Scheduled for Monday, October 23, 2023, at the River Plantation Golf Club. This major fundraiser is crucial to the club’s vision programs. Last year, the tournament raised an impressive $50,000, which directly funded eye exams, eyeglasses, and even life-changing surgeries for low-income individuals and children throughout Montgomery County. The club encourages local businesses and community members to participate through team registrations and various sponsorship opportunities. Details for registration and sponsorship can be found on the club’s website at www.conroenoonlions.org.
* **Christmas in the Park:** Set for Saturday, December 2, 2023, at Heritage Place Park in downtown Conroe. This beloved annual community event draws families from across the region for a day of festive cheer. Attendees can look forward to holiday decorations, local vendor booths, live music and caroling, children’s activities, and a special visit from Santa Claus. This event not only brings joy to the community but also raises vital funds for the club’s ongoing service initiatives.

The Conroe Noon Lions Club is deeply committed to expanding its service footprint, particularly in the realm of vision care. The club provides an average of 1,000 pairs of glasses to individuals in need annually through initiatives like Project Zero. Project Zero specifically targets children, partnering with local school districts and community clinics to identify students requiring vision correction and providing comprehensive eye exams and custom-fitted eyeglasses, often at no cost to families. This unwavering dedication is a testament to their motto, “We Serve.”
