**Conroe Noon Lions Club Kicks Off New Service Year with Membership Growth and Significant Charitable Donations**

**CONROE, TX – July 22, 2024** – The Conroe Noon Lions Club officially launched its 2024-2025 service year on July 1, ushering in a renewed period of dedicated community engagement and support for Montgomery County. The club marked the beginning of its fresh season with a successful first meeting on July 19, which saw the induction of 12 new members, expanding its robust ranks to over 230 dedicated volunteers under the guidance of current president Greg Arkless.

The kickoff follows a series of impactful financial contributions recently made by the club to various vital local non-profit organizations, totaling $45,000. These donations underscore the Lions Club’s unwavering commitment to addressing pressing community needs across Montgomery County.

The Montgomery County Food Bank received a substantial $10,000 donation, earmarked to bolster its crucial efforts in combating food insecurity and providing meals to those in need. Additionally, $5,000 was distributed to each of the following seven organizations:

* **The Friendship Center:** Supporting seniors and individuals with disabilities.
* **Meals on Wheels of Montgomery County:** Delivering nutritious meals to homebound seniors.
* **Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County:** Building safe and affordable housing for families.
* **Family Promise:** Aiding homeless families in achieving sustainable independence.
* **Angel Reach:** Providing resources and support for youth aging out of foster care.
* **Bridgewood Farms:** Empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
* **CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Montgomery County:** Advocating for abused and neglected children in the court system.

“We are incredibly proud to welcome our new members, whose energy and passion will undoubtedly strengthen our mission to serve Montgomery County,” said President Greg Arkless. “Our recent donations reflect our commitment to supporting the backbone of our community – the non-profits working tirelessly every day. These contributions are just the beginning of our annual goal, and we look forward to an even more impactful year ahead.”

These contributions are part of the Conroe Noon Lions Club’s annual goal of providing over $100,000 to local charities. A significant portion of these funds is generated through successful fundraising efforts, prominently including their flagship event, the Texas State BBQ Championship, which draws thousands of attendees and participants each February.

For the upcoming year, the club remains focused on expanding its service initiatives, member engagement, and charitable reach throughout the Conroe and wider Montgomery County areas, upholding the Lions Club International motto, “We Serve.”
