Conroe Noon Lions End Year, Honor Members, Plan Ahead

CONROE, Texas – The Conroe Noon Lions Club officially concluded a highly successful 2023-2024 service year on June 19, 2024, by installing its new slate of officers and directors set to lead the organization from July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2025. The celebratory evening, held in Conroe, Texas, honored dedicated members for their unwavering community service and offered a glimpse into the club’s anticipated events for the coming year.

Under the leadership of outgoing President Mike Sproba, the club celebrated significant achievements in its mission to serve the local and global communities. Lions Clubs International, founded in 1917, is the world’s largest service club organization, renowned for its commitment to vision, hunger relief, environmental protection, childhood cancer, and diabetes awareness. The Conroe chapter embodies this spirit through numerous local initiatives.

During the final meeting, Lisa and Rick Schipper were distinguished with the prestigious “Lions of the Year” award, recognizing their exceptional dedication, leadership, and impactful contributions throughout the year. Mindy S. Perdue was honored as “Rookie of the Year,” a testament to her swift integration and significant positive influence as a new member.

President Sproba also presented “President’s Appreciation” awards to several key members for their profound commitment and volunteer efforts, including Mark and Carolyn Stewart, Jason and Emily Miller, and Karen and Steve Colligan. Their tireless work has been instrumental in the club’s success. Perfect Attendance honors were awarded to Atmaram and Sangeeta Kunte, Vicky and James Johnson, Mark and Jennifer Thornton, and Immediate Past President Cecil Webster, highlighting their consistent presence and involvement.

Further recognition included the highly esteemed Melvin Jones Fellowship awards, the highest form of recognition in Lions Clubs International, bestowed upon Mindy S. Perdue, Rick Schipper, and Past President Cecil Webster. This award signifies an individual’s commitment to humanitarian service. Additionally, Rick Schipper, Atmaram Kunte, Vicky Johnson, and Past President Cecil Webster each received the Jack Wiegreffe Award, a special club honor recognizing outstanding local contributions and dedication.

With the installation of new leadership, the Conroe Noon Lions Club is poised to continue its legacy of service. “We are incredibly proud of what we accomplished in the past year, thanks to the tireless efforts of our members,” remarked outgoing President Mike Sproba. “The enthusiasm and commitment of our new officers and directors, combined with the continued dedication of our returning members, ensure that the Conroe Noon Lions Club will continue to make a tangible difference in our community for years to come.”

Looking ahead, the club has already scheduled key events designed to foster community engagement and support its charitable endeavors. Members and guests are encouraged to mark their calendars for the annual Christmas Party on December 11, 2024, a cherished tradition that brings members and their families together. The popular Kids Fishing Tournament, a free community event that introduces local youth to the joys of fishing and outdoor recreation, is also set to return in Spring 2025.
