**Conroe Law Enforcement Task Force Makes 90 Arrests During Lone Star Throwdown Weekend**

**CONROE, Texas – February 12, 2024** – A specialized multi-agency “Lone Star Throwdown Task Force” mobilized last weekend, February 9th through 11th, to proactively address public safety during the popular Lone Star Throwdown truck show in Conroe. The concentrated effort resulted in the arrest of 90 individuals and the issuance of 85 citations for various misdemeanor offenses, underscoring local authorities’ commitment to maintaining order at large-scale events.

The task force, comprised of more than 200 officers, drew personnel from the Conroe Police Department, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Montgomery County Precinct 1 Constable’s Office, Montgomery County Attorney’s Office, Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, and the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC). Their unified presence focused on deterring illicit activities often associated with major gatherings.

Arrests spanned a range of offenses, including numerous instances of driving under the influence (DUI), minors in possession (MIP) of alcohol, public intoxication, possession of marijuana, evading arrest, and unlawful carrying of a weapon. In addition to the arrests and citations, officers confiscated approximately 14.7 pounds of marijuana and several firearms throughout the three-day event.

One notable incident occurred near the Lone Star Convention & Expo Center, the primary venue for the truck show. Law enforcement officials arrested an individual found in possession of both a pistol and a “substantial amount” of marijuana. The proximity to the event site led to charges including unlawful carrying of a weapon and possession of marijuana in a drug-free zone, carrying enhanced penalties.

The formation of the Lone Star Throwdown Task Force was a direct response to the event’s burgeoning scale and prior challenges concerning public safety and traffic management. The annual truck show draws tens of thousands of automotive enthusiasts to the Conroe area, significantly impacting local infrastructure and requiring a robust law enforcement presence to ensure public order.

“Our goal was to ensure the safety of both attendees and the broader community while allowing the event to proceed,” stated a spokesperson for one of the participating agencies, highlighting the proactive nature of the operation. “This coordinated effort allowed us to address potential issues before they escalated, making a significant impact on public safety throughout the weekend.”

Authorities emphasized that the multi-agency approach was crucial for effective coverage across various jurisdictions and for addressing diverse types of violations. The collaboration between municipal, county, and state agencies proved instrumental in the successful execution of the weekend’s enforcement initiatives. Officials anticipate debriefing on the task force’s operations to inform planning for future large-scale events in the Montgomery County area.
