Conroe Welcomes The Chill Spot Shaved Ice Drive-Thru

CONROE, Texas – A vibrant new drive-thru snow cone stand, “The Chill Spot,” officially opened its windows on Saturday, May 15th, bringing a taste of authentic Hawaiian-style shave ice to Conroe’s rapidly warming summer days. Located at 925 N. Frazier St., on the revitalized site of a former car wash, the family-run business is poised to become a refreshing haven for locals seeking a unique frosty treat.

The grand opening drew a steady stream of customers, with families and individuals lining up throughout the day to experience the finely shaved ice. Owners Eric and Laura Solberg expressed their excitement about the community’s enthusiastic reception.

“We moved to Conroe from Alaska, and one thing we truly missed from our travels, especially our time in Hawaii, was that perfect, melt-in-your-mouth shave ice,” said Laura Solberg. Her husband, Eric, elaborated on the distinction, adding, “It’s a completely different experience from a regular snow cone. We’re talking about incredibly fine, fluffy ice that absorbs the flavor perfectly, rather than chunky crushed ice. It just melts in your mouth.”

The colorful stand itself is a testament to family effort, having been constructed by Eric’s father, John Solberg. Its convenient drive-thru setup is designed for ultimate ease, allowing customers to quickly grab a treat without leaving their vehicles. The transformation of the formerly idle car wash site into a bright, inviting refreshment spot has already garnered positive attention from passersby.

The Chill Spot boasts an impressive menu featuring over 30 different flavors, ranging from classic fruit selections like cherry and blue raspberry to more exotic combinations. The Solbergs remain firm on the distinct texture of their product. “The key is the finely shaved ice,” Eric explained. “It’s what gives our treats that smooth consistency and allows the vibrant flavors to truly shine through in every bite, offering a superior taste experience.”

With Conroe’s continued growth and notoriously hot Texas summers, the Solbergs saw a clear opportunity to provide a high-quality, family-friendly refreshment option. “We wanted to create a place where families could easily get a delicious, cooling treat,” Laura noted. “It’s about more than just snow cones; it’s about creating a little bit of joy and a refreshing escape for everyone in our new community.” The couple aims to foster a welcoming atmosphere, making The Chill Spot a go-to destination for after-school snacks, weekend outings, or just a quick cool-down.

The Chill Spot is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sundays from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., catering to both daytime and evening cravings. For updates on special flavors, hours, and community events, patrons are encouraged to follow The Chill Spot on social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram at @TheChillSpotConroe.

As temperatures continue their seasonal ascent in Conroe, The Chill Spot offers a delicious and convenient way for residents to cool down, bringing a unique taste of the tropics to the heart of Texas.
