From Friday, February 23rd, to Sunday, February 25th, enthusiasts from across the country converged on the Montgomery County Fairgrounds at 9005 Airport Road, transforming Conroe into a vibrant hub of automotive culture and, inevitably, a significant traffic hotspot.

This year’s Throwdown shattered previous attendance records, drawing an estimated 40,000 spectators. The economic ripple effect of the three-day spectacle is substantial. Organizers estimate the event injects over $30 million annually into the local economy, a figure that Conroe Mayor Dan Cox enthusiastically supports. “The Lone Star Throwdown is not just an event; it’s an economic engine for our city,” Mayor Cox stated. “We welcome the enthusiasts and appreciate the significant boost it provides to our hotels, restaurants, gas stations, and various small businesses. It’s truly a cornerstone event for Conroe.” Local establishments often report near-100% occupancy rates for hotels and record-breaking weekend sales for eateries and retail outlets in the surrounding area.

However, with such a massive influx of vehicles and people comes the undeniable challenge of congestion. Commuters and residents experienced heavy traffic, particularly along I-45, Airport Road, FM 3083, and Loop 336, throughout the weekend. The Conroe Police Department deployed extra officers and implemented specialized traffic management strategies to mitigate delays and ensure public safety. Despite the logistical hurdles, the event largely proceeded smoothly, a testament to coordinated efforts between organizers and city officials.

The Lone Star Throwdown, expertly organized by Tony and Brandi, has firmly cemented its place as a must-attend annual event for custom vehicle aficionados.
