Dosey Doe Big Barn Sold, Demolished for Development

The Woodlands, TX – The iconic Dosey Doe Big Barn, a beloved live music venue in The Woodlands, has been officially sold to Dallas-based Lincoln Property Company and is slated for demolition. Founder Steve Said announced the sale last Friday, May 10, 2024, marking the end of a two-decade era for the distinctive establishment located at 25915 I-45 N.

The sale, reportedly finalized last week, brings down the curtain on a venue that became a cherished cornerstone of the local and regional music scene. Said, who founded the venue, stated he is looking forward to retirement and spending more time with his family after his 20-year commitment to the Big Barn.

Dosey Doe Big Barn was renowned not just for its intimate dinner-and-a-show experience but also for its unique construction. Said meticulously disassembled a genuine 1800s tobacco barn in Kentucky and reassembled it in Texas, creating a one-of-a-kind space. Over the years, it hosted a remarkable roster of talent, including legends like Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Lyle Lovett, Clint Black, and Robert Earl Keen.

The property is now slated for redevelopment as "Lincoln Centre at The Woodlands," a new mixed-use complex. While the Big Barn itself will be torn down to make way for the new development, Steve Said is not entirely stepping away from the local business landscape. He continues to operate the Dosey Doe Breakfast, BBQ & Whiskey Bar and Dosey Doe - The Coffee Shop in The Woodlands. Said also hinted at the possibility of opening a smaller Dosey Doe venue a few years in the future.

Nevertheless, the sale and planned demolition of the Dosey Doe Big Barn represent a significant shift for the live music landscape north of Houston, closing a memorable chapter in the area's cultural history.
