**Grand Oaks High Student Hospitalized After Campus Stabbing; Suspect in Custody**

**SPRING, TX – April 24, 2024** – A student at Grand Oaks High School was hospitalized in stable condition Wednesday morning, April 24, after being stabbed on campus following an altercation with another student. The incident, which occurred in a school bathroom, prompted a swift response from law enforcement and school officials, leading to the rapid apprehension of a suspect.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that deputies responded to the school, located at 4800 Riley Fuzzel Road in Spring, shortly after 10:30 a.m. after receiving reports of a stabbing. Upon arrival, authorities found one student with a stab wound. The victim, whose identity has not been released due to their age, was transported to a local hospital where they are reported to be in stable condition and recovering.

The suspect, identified as a 15-year-old male and also a student at Grand Oaks High, was quickly located and taken into custody without further incident. He is now facing charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Due to his age, the suspect’s name will not be released, and his case will proceed through the juvenile justice system.

“Our deputies were on scene incredibly quickly, and thanks to the cooperation of school staff, we were able to apprehend the suspect almost immediately,” said a spokesperson for the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. “We want to reassure parents and the community that there is no ongoing threat to students or staff at Grand Oaks High School.”

Following the incident, Grand Oaks High School was immediately placed on a “secure” status, meaning all exterior doors were locked and no one was permitted to enter or exit the building. This measure allowed law enforcement to thoroughly investigate the scene and ensure the safety of all individuals on campus. Conroe Independent School District (CISD) officials maintained constant communication with parents throughout the unfolding situation, sending out multiple notifications via email, text, and phone calls detailing the event, the school’s status, and the subsequent early release of students.

“The safety and well-being of our students and staff is our absolute top priority,” said Dr. Curtis Null, Superintendent of Conroe ISD, in a statement released to parents. “We are grateful for the quick actions of our campus staff, school resource officers, and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office in addressing this isolated incident. Counselors and support staff will be available on campus in the coming days to provide support to students and staff who may need it.”

Students were released early for the day, with staggered dismissal times communicated to parents to manage traffic flow and ensure an orderly departure. The school plans to resume its regular schedule on Thursday, April 25, with an increased law enforcement presence and additional support staff available.

The incident remains under investigation by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. Officials have not yet released details regarding the nature of the altercation that led to the stabbing or the specific weapon used. The school district emphasized that appropriate disciplinary actions, in addition to criminal charges, will be taken in accordance with district policy. Grand Oaks High School, which opened in 2018, serves a growing community in the Spring area and enrolls over 2,000 students.
