MAGNOLIA, TX – On June 10, Habitat for Humanity Northwest Harris County (HfH NWHC) officially broke ground on a new home for the Washington family, marking not only the start of construction for one family but also the beginning of a significant revitalization initiative within the Marble Falls subdivision. The ceremony, held at the future site at 31252 Marble Falls Drive, celebrated the impending homeownership for Michael and Christina Washington and their three daughters, who are expected to move into their new residence by Fall 2024.

Michael Washington, a U.S. military veteran, expressed profound gratitude during the groundbreaking. “This isn’t just a house; it’s a foundation for our children’s future, a place of stability we’ve dreamed of,” he said, standing alongside his family. “The support from Habitat and the community means the world to us.”

This project extends far beyond a single dwelling. In a collaborative effort with the Magnolia Community Development Corporation (MCDC), HfH NWHC plans to construct an additional 15 to 20 affordable homes in the Marble Falls subdivision over the next two years.
