Houston First Responders Battle in Heroes Bowl Fundraiser

Houston, TX – [Insert Today’s Date] – Houston is preparing for a truly heroic display of athleticism and community spirit as the city’s first responders gear up for the inaugural Buckle Up Heroes Bowl, set to ignite NRG Stadium on Saturday, February 28, 2026. This unique event, kicking off at 6 p.m. and running until 9 p.m., promises a thrilling spectacle of local police officers, firefighters, paramedics, and other emergency personnel facing off on the gridiron, all for a vital cause.

More than just a game, the Buckle Up Heroes Bowl is a significant fundraiser dedicated to supporting two cornerstone organizations within the Houston community: the Houston Police Officers’ Union (HPOU) Assist the Officer Foundation and the 100 Club of Houston. Both foundations provide critical aid and comfort to the brave men and women who serve and protect the city every day.

“We are incredibly excited to bring the Buckle Up Heroes Bowl to NRG Stadium,” said Maria Rodriguez, Event Chair for the Buckle Up Heroes Bowl organizing committee. “This isn’t just an opportunity for our community to see their local heroes compete in a friendly yet fierce rivalry; it’s a profound statement of gratitude and support. Every ticket purchased directly contributes to the well-being of the first responders and their families who sacrifice so much for us.”

The HPOU Assist the Officer Foundation provides financial assistance and emotional support to Houston Police officers and their families in times of crisis, including illness, injury, or unforeseen hardship. Similarly, the 100 Club of Houston offers financial support to the families of Houston-area first responders who are killed or seriously injured in the line of duty, and provides equipment to local law enforcement and fire agencies.

“The unwavering support from events like the Buckle Up Heroes Bowl is what allows the Assist the Officer Foundation to continue our vital work,” stated Sergeant David Chen, Board Member of the HPOU Assist the Officer Foundation. “Knowing the community has our backs, not just when we’re on duty, but when we face personal challenges, means the world to our officers and their families. This game will be a powerful testament to that bond.”

For the 100 Club of Houston, the event represents a crucial boost to their mission. “When a first responder makes the ultimate sacrifice or is severely injured, the ripple effect on their family is immediate and devastating,” said William Davis, Executive Director of the 100 Club of Houston. “The funds raised here will ensure we can continue to provide immediate financial relief and long-term support, allowing families to grieve and rebuild without the added burden of financial stress. We encourage everyone to come out and cheer on our heroes.”

Tickets for the Buckle Up Heroes Bowl are priced at an affordable $20, offering Houstonians a unique chance to cheer on their everyday heroes while contributing directly to these two worthy causes. The atmosphere is expected to be electric, with pre-game festivities, family-friendly activities, and an anticipated display of sportsmanship and camaraderie among the competing teams.

Participating first responder agencies are currently forming their teams and engaging in spirited training sessions, promising a high-energy, competitive game. Specific team rosters and additional event details will be announced in the coming months.

Don’t miss this opportunity to witness Houston’s finest go head-to-head for bragging rights and, more importantly, for the incredible organizations that support them. Mark your calendars for Saturday, February 28, 2026, at NRG Stadium.
