Junior Board Fundraiser Benefits Scholarships, Fair Ahead

**MCFA Junior Board’s Inaugural Fundraiser a Resounding Success, Boosts Scholarship Program**

Conroe, TX – The future leaders of the Montgomery County Fair Association (MCFA) made a significant impact on Saturday, February 10, 2024, as the MCFA Junior Board successfully hosted its inaugural fundraiser event. Held at the Lone Star Convention & Expo Center in Conroe, the evening drew approximately 200 enthusiastic guests and generated substantial funds, all earmarked directly for the MCFA Scholarship Program, which provides vital financial support to graduating high school seniors across Montgomery County.

Attendees were treated to a lively night of community and camaraderie. The event featured a delicious dinner, vibrant music, engaging games, and both silent and live auctions, creating an atmosphere of fellowship and robust community support for the Junior Board’s mission. Auction items ranged from unique local experiences and handcrafted goods to generous donations from area businesses, prompting spirited bidding that significantly contributed to the night’s fundraising success.

Established in 2022, the MCFA Junior Board is comprised of dedicated high school students from various schools within Montgomery County, operating under the guidance of advisors Nicole Hinds and Amanda Williams. The board provides an invaluable opportunity for youth to gain hands-on experience in event planning, community engagement, and leadership development, all while contributing to the long-standing traditions and future of the Montgomery County Fair.

MCFA President Cody Ginsel underscored the importance of this youth initiative. “We started the Junior Board in 2022 to get the next generation of fair leaders involved, and it is absolutely paying off,” Ginsel stated. “Seeing these young people take such initiative and execute a successful event like this, directly benefiting their peers through scholarships, truly reinforces the value of investing in our youth. They are learning critical skills while upholding the fair’s commitment to education and community.”

The scholarship program, a cornerstone of the MCFA’s educational outreach, supports local high school seniors who demonstrate academic achievement, community involvement, and often, participation in agricultural programs like FFA and 4-H. These scholarships help ease the financial burden of pursuing higher education or vocational training.

With the success of this initial fundraiser, the Junior Board and the broader MCFA are now shifting their focus to the much-anticipated 2024 Montgomery County Fair and Rodeo. The ten-day event is scheduled to take place from April 12 through April 21, 2024, at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds. The fair promises a full schedule of agricultural exhibitions, thrilling rodeo events, live entertainment, carnival rides, youth livestock shows, and a wide array of food vendors, drawing thousands from across the region.

High school seniors hoping to benefit from the MCFA Scholarship Program are reminded that the application deadline is Friday, March 1, 2024. Further details on eligibility and application forms can be found on the MCFA’s official website.
