**Lake Conroe Centennial Lions Club Invites Local Youth to ‘Dare to Dream’ Through International Peace Contests**

**MONTGOMERY, TX – September 15, 2023** – The Lake Conroe Centennial Lions Club is once again fostering creativity and a vision for peace among local youth, kicking off recruitment for the prestigious Lions Club International Peace Poster and Essay Contests. Members gathered on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at the Walden Yacht Club in Montgomery, to strategize and discuss upcoming opportunities for students across several area school districts.

Both contests share the inspiring theme “Dare to Dream” for the 2023-2024 competition cycle, encouraging young people to express their hopes and aspirations for a more peaceful world. Lion Betty Black, who chairs the contests for the club, outlined the detailed requirements and deadlines for members, who are now tasked with engaging schools and recruiting participants.

“These contests are more than just competitions; they are platforms for our youth to envision and articulate what peace means to them,” stated Black during the meeting. “The ‘Dare to Dream’ theme truly resonates, especially today, and we’re excited to see the powerful messages our local students will create.”

**Peace Poster Contest: A Canvas for Young Visionaries**
The Peace Poster Contest invites artistically inclined students aged 11, 12, or 13 as of November 15, 2023, to create artwork based on the “Dare to Dream” theme. Posters must be submitted to their local sponsoring Lions Club by **November 15, 2023**. This contest is a global initiative by Lions Clubs International, designed to emphasize the importance of peace to young people worldwide.

**Essay Contest for Visually Impaired Students: Words of Hope**
Parallel to the poster contest, the Essay Contest offers a unique opportunity for visually impaired students aged 11, 12, or 13 as of December 15, 2023. These students are encouraged to articulate their interpretation of the “Dare to Dream” theme in written form, with essays ranging from 500 to 1,000 words. The deadline for essay submissions to local clubs is **December 15, 2023**.

The Lake Conroe Centennial Lions Club is actively collaborating with numerous school districts to facilitate widespread student participation, including Conroe ISD, Montgomery ISD, Willis ISD, Splendora ISD, Magnolia ISD, and New Caney ISD.
