LSC-Montgomery Students Achieve National Honors

**Lone Star College-Montgomery Students Garner National Acclaim with Prestigious Academic Honors**

**THE WOODLANDS, TX – April 11, 2024** – Three exceptional students from Lone Star College-Montgomery – Jennifer Miller, Katherine “Katie” Martin, and Anna Johnson – have earned national recognition and significant academic honors, distinguishing them among the nation’s top two-year college students. Their achievements include prestigious Coca-Cola Academic Team scholarships and induction into the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) All-Texas Academic Team.

Jennifer Miller was named a Coca-Cola Academic Team Gold Scholar, earning a $1,500 scholarship. Katherine “Katie” Martin received a $1,250 scholarship as a Silver Scholar, and Anna Johnson was recognized as a Bronze Scholar, awarded a $1,000 scholarship. The highly competitive selections for the Coca-Cola Academic Team, announced in November 2023, are made in partnership with the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation and Phi Theta Kappa. These accolades recognize students for their academic achievement, leadership, and community service.

Beyond their Coca-Cola distinctions, all three students were also inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa All-Texas Academic Team, an honor that celebrates the highest academic achievers and leaders in community colleges across the state. This particular recognition was highlighted during a special ceremony at the State Capitol in Austin on March 28, 2024, where students were recognized for their outstanding contributions.

The trio’s impressive accomplishments continued to be celebrated at the PTK International Induction Ceremony and Catalyst 2024, the honor society’s annual international convention, which took place from April 4-6 in Orlando, Florida. Looking ahead, Miller and Martin are slated for additional recognition by members of Congress during an event in Washington D.C., spotlighting their exceptional academic and leadership contributions on a national stage.

“We are incredibly proud of Jennifer, Katie, and Anna for their outstanding achievements and unwavering dedication,” said Dr. Rebecca Tate, President of Lone Star College-Montgomery. “These honors not only reflect their individual brilliance and hard work but also underscore the exceptional quality of education and student support services we strive to provide at LSC-Montgomery. They are true inspirations to our entire college community.”

All three students are active and engaged members of LSC-Montgomery’s Alpha Delta Pi chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, an international honor society for students at two-year colleges committed to recognizing academic excellence and fostering leadership.

PTK co-advisors Dr. Cherie Powell and Theresa McShan echoed Dr. Tate’s sentiments. “Jennifer, Katie, and Anna exemplify the very best of what our PTK chapter and LSC-Montgomery represent,” Dr. Powell stated. “Their commitment to academics, leadership within the chapter, and service to the community is truly commendable.” McShan added, “Watching them grow and achieve these national honors has been a privilege. They are not just exceptional students; they are future leaders who will undoubtedly make significant impacts in their chosen fields.”
