## Lone Star College-Montgomery Students Secure Prestigious National Scholarships

Austin State University Regents’ Scholarship, and will be transferring to SFA this fall to pursue her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. In addition to this, Hernandez also secured the highly sought-after Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship.

**Marcellus “Marcy” Stover: Among the Nation’s Top 60**
Marcellus “Marcy” Stover, a first-generation student from Conroe, joins Hernandez as a recipient of the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship. This highly competitive award is the nation’s largest undergraduate transfer scholarship, offering up to $55,000 per year for up to three years. Stover is one of only 60 students selected nationwide for this honor this year, a testament to his academic excellence and potential. Studying Computer Science, Marcy plans to transfer to a four-year university in Fall 2024, with his sights set on earning a Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence.

The Goldwater Scholarship provides up to $7,500 for tuition, fees, books, and room and board for one or two years.

Mendoza, who is pursuing a degree in Physics, plans to transfer in Fall 2024 to continue her studies in Astrophysics, with an ultimate goal of becoming an astrophysicist at NASA. The Goldwater Scholarship program was established by Congress in 1986 to honor Senator Barry Goldwater and to foster and encourage excellence in science and engineering.
