Mack Enters Race for Montgomery County Judge

**Justice of the Peace Wayne Mack Enters Race for Montgomery County Judge, Citing Conservative Principles**

**CONROE, TX –** Montgomery County’s Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace, Wayne Mack, officially announced his candidacy for Montgomery County Judge in the upcoming 2024 Republican Primary. Mack made his public declaration this past Monday, July 17, during the Montgomery County Republican Party’s monthly meeting, held at the Lone Star Convention & Expo Center, to a supportive crowd of local party members and constituents.

Mack, who has served as Justice of the Peace for Precinct 1 since 2014, making him a nearly decade-long fixture in that judicial role, is now aiming for the county’s top executive position. The move comes as current County Judge Mark Keough has publicly stated he will not be seeking re-election, thereby opening what is anticipated to be a highly competitive and crowded field for the crucial Republican nomination in this reliably conservative county.

Bringing a formidable background to his campaign, Mack boasts 25 years in law enforcement with the Houston Police Department, a career that saw him rise through various ranks and assignments. He is also a proud veteran, having served across multiple branches including the U.S. Army, the Army National Guard, and the Air Force Reserve. Beyond his professional and military service, Mack has deep roots in community advocacy, notably founding the Montgomery County Law Enforcement Memorial and developing the Montgomery County Fallen First Responders Task Force, initiatives aimed at honoring and supporting first responders.

During his announcement, Mack articulated a platform firmly rooted in core conservative principles, emphasizing what he called the bedrock values necessary for Montgomery County’s future. He pledged to prioritize the protection of private property rights, push back against government overreach, and ensure strict fiscal responsibility within county government. Mack also addressed the local impacts of border security concerns and reiterated a strong commitment to supporting the county’s first responders and veterans.

“Montgomery County deserves leadership that will tirelessly advocate for smaller government, individual liberties, and fiscal prudence,” Mack stated to attendees. He specifically highlighted concerns over high taxes and local government spending, presenting himself as the candidate ready to keep Montgomery County “Texas Strong.”

The position of County Judge is a powerful one, acting as the chief executive of the county, presiding over the Commissioners Court, overseeing the county budget, and directing emergency management operations. Given Montgomery County’s strong Republican leanings, the winner of the March 5, 2024 Republican Primary is often seen as the presumptive winner of the general election.

While other candidates are expected to formally declare their intentions in the coming months, Mack is among the first to officially enter what promises to be a robust primary contest.
