Montgomery Co Food Bank Targets $3M for Hunger Relief

**Montgomery County Food Bank’s “Roar & Explore” Gala Sells Out, Highlighting Community’s Commitment to Fighting Hunger**

The Montgomery County Food Bank’s highly anticipated “Roar & Explore” fundraiser has once again demonstrated the community’s unwavering commitment to combating hunger, with all tickets for this Saturday’s gala completely sold out. Set to transform The Woodlands Resort into an evening of purpose and philanthropy, the event aims to raise a crucial $3 million to provide 15 million meals annually to local families and seniors struggling with food insecurity.

The “Roar & Explore” gala is scheduled to kick off at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 3rd, 2024, at The Woodlands Resort, located at 2100 Lake Robbins Drive in The Woodlands. Those fortunate enough to have secured tickets can look forward to an elegant evening featuring a gourmet dinner, lively entertainment, and the excitement of both silent and live auctions, all complemented by convenient valet parking. The theme, “Roar & Explore,” symbolizes the food bank’s relentless pursuit of solutions and a shared adventure in the fight against hunger.

Food insecurity remains a pressing challenge across Montgomery County, affecting a significant portion of its population. In 2023 alone, the Montgomery County Food Bank served over 82,000 residents through its extensive network of partner agencies, mobile food pantries, and specialized programs targeting vulnerable populations. This consistent demand underscores the critical role the annual gala plays in sustaining these vital services.

This year’s honorary chairs, Janet and Greg Waterfall, have lent their considerable support and passion to the cause. “We are incredibly honored to be part of an event that makes such a profound difference in the lives of our neighbors,” said Janet Waterfall. “The community’s response, evidenced by the sold-out tickets, truly speaks volumes about the collective desire to ensure no one in Montgomery County goes hungry.” Greg Waterfall added, “Every dollar raised translates directly into meals and hope for families and seniors struggling to make ends meet. It’s a testament to the Food Bank’s efficiency and impact.”

While the gala tickets may be sold out, the opportunity to contribute to the Food Bank’s mission remains wide open and vitally important. Individuals eager to make a difference can still provide significant support by donating online at mcfoodbank.org/roar or by texting ‘ROAR’ to 71777. These contributions directly fuel the Food Bank’s operations, helping to secure, sort, and distribute millions of pounds of food each year.

The Montgomery County Food Bank operates with a clear vision: to unite the community to fight hunger and feed hope. Through its dedicated staff, vast volunteer base, and a network of over 70 partner agencies, the Food Bank distributes nutritious food to individuals and families facing hardship. Their programs extend beyond emergency food assistance to include initiatives focused on children’s hunger, senior nutrition, and fresh produce distribution, addressing the diverse needs within the community.

As the “Roar & Explore” gala prepares to celebrate another year of community impact, the Montgomery County Food Bank reminds residents that the fight against hunger is an ongoing effort requiring sustained support. Your contribution, no matter the size, helps turn a shared commitment into tangible meals and a brighter future for those in need across Montgomery County.
